Dreaming of England and Fall Tea

Hello everyone,
Sitting here, writing this post, I'm listening to the rain coming down outside. Its been a long time since I've heard rain hitting the ground and the smell of the sweet clean air... A cup of tea always brings back wonderful memories of my fabulous trip to England in 2011.  With the Fall season just getting under way, I wanted to set a little fall vignette in the dining room with some things that remind me of the beautiful fall days ahead.
A round wicker basket to hold a little pumpkin. The wooden bowl is an individual salad bowl. And the Pomegranates from our tree are growing bigger each day. These three babies in the bowl are a sample of the amazing fruit we enjoy each fall. The Sedum is Autumn Joy and is by far the most popular of the Sedum. A familiar sight when it begins to produce green broccoli-like buds in mid-summer, which gradually open into enormous dusty-pink flower heads. And finally deepening into a rich bronzy-red color.
I've been baking some wonderful pear desserts this past month. HERE for Pear Tart and this Pear Tea Cup is so perfect for a Fall Tea time.
A little French Rooster is keeping a careful watch.

I love England and when I found this book in the travel section at Barnes and Noble I had to buy it. What a joy to read. Susan took me on a journey to the English Countryside with drawings, quotes, GARDENS and adventures galore...Thank you Susan.
This book is my new travel guide for my next trip to England.

While walking the streets of London, my friends and I stopped in the Twinings Tea store. I love drinking any kind of Twinings tea. The spoon I found at the antique store last week. I found seven spoons. The other six spoons will be attached to my lavender bath salts I sell at our church Harvest Bazaar in November.
Royal Albert Covent Garden Series tea cup and saucer.
Thanks for visiting and join me as I join some fun linky parties.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend

Betty

Autumn Leaves

Hello everyone,
Fall is Here!  The leaves are starting to fall.  And just the slightest breeze the leaves come floating down to the ground. Also the  weather is now into the high 80's. It's so much easier to come outside and take some photos of my Fall or Autumn tablescape and capture the coziness of the patio...
The inspiration for my tablescape today is the napkin rings.
I've been thrifting again, and found these metal napkin rings. I think they look like leaves. Sometimes I see things other people don't see, but that's why I love to blog.  I have my own space to play stylist and be a story teller.

Autumn colors are the focus of the place setting. Basic white salad plate is perfect to hold the colorful napkin.
Muted green dinner plate
The trotted over to the Dollar Tree and picked up these wonderful felt Autumn Leaf place mats. I might use these again soon. The fall season is so short, before we get busy with all our Christmas decorating. The gold flatware I found at the antique store.
I found the festive green and white napkins on clearance at my very favorite store. (Tuesday Morning)
The stem glasses are a treasure. My sister gave me this set of hand painted stemware a few years ago. When I started blogging I used these glasses in a tablescape. HERE.
The pomegranate tree is producing some wonderful tasting fruit right now. I cut three small pomegranates off for this photo. When I brought the fruit into the house and put them on the kitchen counter about 20 ants(big) ran all over. I am now called the ant whisperer. LOL!
Thanks for visiting today and hope you are enjoying some cooler weather too.
Joyously,
Betty

Beautiful Gift Shop

Hello everyone,
I posted last Saturday my *Fall Picnic* Here
On Sunday afternoon my sister and brother-in-law arrived for a couple of days. Monday we went golfing and out to dinner and Tuesday morning they left for home. Early Wednesday morning I drove to a friends house in Red Bluff to make a raffle basket for our Harvest Bazaar in November. After spending a delightful day visiting my wonderful friends I headed home. But before getting on the freeway I stopped by my favorite gift shop in the whole world.  The House of Design in the Kraft Library.
With the first day of Autumn Tuesday, September 23, 2014.
I have some wonderful inspiration for mantels and table centerpieces.

This is the first view I saw when I walked in door.
Amazing***

Always a cloche and a bird house
The Autumnal Equinox
The word equinox comes from the Latin words for “equal night.” The fall and spring equinoxes are the only days of the year in which the Sun crosses the celestial equator
Thanks for visiting. If you would like to visit the House of Design go here.  To see the beautiful Kraft Library video go here

*Fall Picnic*

Hello everyone,
Company is coming this weekend. I wanted to add a little fall color to our patio. While thrift shopping a couple of weeks ago I found this vintage wicker woven picnic basket...I knew it would be a wonderful addition to my patio area.

My sun hat is ready to shade the Autumn sun while working in the yard next week
Mr. and Mrs. Scarecrow have joined the party in the patio. I love to bring this pair of cuties out every September.
Sunflowers are so perfect for my little vignette.

My bistro set is used as added seating when we have a party. I found this soft Autumn colored throw at the goodwill for .99¢ Sweet♥
A neutral colored bow and tendrils surrounding the handles.
I love the detail on the vintage wicker basket.
Lately I've been fascinated by the 'Watercolor' technique on photographs. I played with Photoshop and created my version of a 'Watercolor' photo...

Here is my new flag for the garden. Speaking of editing photos. I wish I knew how to remove the fold lines from my new flag without getting out the iron. I guess next week when I'm out working in the garden I'll take the flag off the flag holder and iron out the creases. LOL!
They say: Nothing is ever perfect...
Thanks for visiting and thanks for the wonderful comments.

A Pretty Tea Cup

Hello everyone,
Hope you're having a nice weekend. The weather is still warm...As I write this post on Sunday evening the temp is in the low nineties. My daughter came by this morning and baked a French Pear Tart and one Pear Crisp with the pears from her friend's tree.  Go Here for the French Pear Tart recipe.
Last week at my favorite thrift store they had Vintage week. I bought a new tea cup and saucer. My roses are still trying to give me amazing joy by blooming in this heat.
Roslyn (England) Sunnydale Pattern
I couldn't decide if I wanted to use a pink tea pot or a white tea pot, so I used both. LOL. The little spoon is a gift from one of my traveling companions. It's sterling silver with a English crown on top.
I'm so in love with beautiful tea cups.
And of course Roses.
Just Joey and Secret are my two favorites today.
Thanks for visiting. Well it's time for dessert (pear tart)
