Fall Almond Pear Gaulette

Hello Everyone,
Things have been busy around here lately.  I have been scrapbooking and
staying in the house out of the smoke. On July 23, 2018, a forest fire
broke out about 20 minutes from our house.  The smoke and ash were
so toxic, and my husband and I have been housebound for over a month.
This is the story:
The fire was started when a flat tire on a vehicle caused the wheel's rim to scrape against the asphalt, creating sparks that set off the fire. On July 26, the fire jumped the Sacramento River, making its way into the city of Redding, causing the evacuation of 38,000 people.
My garden has suffered as well as my husband and me.
Now I want to share with you about the fabulous Pear Galette.
It will be Fall on September 22, 2018, and I thought I would make this scrumptious
dessert from the pears a friend gave me from the tree he has at his mountain home.
Ice cream is always a great companion to a fruit galette.

Hopefully, we will get some rain soon,  I can clean my garden and enjoy
some cooler, smoke-free air next month.

Thanks for visiting today,
Hope you have a great week.
Joyously,
Betty

  3. Betty, I would love a bite of this delicious gaulette. I'm sorry you are having to live with the smoke, but glad you are safe. These wild fires are so frightening. Hope you get some much needed rain soon.

  8. What a delicious looking pear galette. We have friends in the Redding area and have been following the fire there. It's been such a terrible fire season here (in British Columbia) as well. I hope that you and your husband are doing better.

  9. Oh, Betty, that looks so delicious!

I just drooled on my keyboard! YUM!!!!

It has FINALLY started cooling off here. It was an unbearably hot and sticky muggy humid summer. Hated it.

SO happy it is fall and now you have me wanting to bake! : - )

  10. Hello Betty, I came across your blog, and it's so charming. This almond pear treat looks amazing. When I was a child, pears were my favorite fruit. This is a wonderful season when we can have all the apple, pumpkin, and spice treats. : )
