More Winter Look

Hello Everyone,
I love the theme of January
"Reorganize"
I have rearranged my cabinet and buffet in the dining area and I think this is the way it will stay for awhile.

I generally keep my buffet simple.  I love to have my rooster standing at attention and some fruit on the three tiered stand for me to nibble on as I pass by.

A simple little pot and a mug from the cupboard and I'm all set for my afternoon  tea break.

 I love my Rooster.

Before

The last change for this cabinet was in May 2010.

Just like other bloggers.  Before Christmas  I received some new dishes and I needed to find a place to display them.  I have always loved when I see blue and white dishes together.  The gold and white colored dishes seem to work well with the blue and white dishes.

I only have two blue and white tea cups and saucers. Maybe someday I will find some more precious ones.

I'm using this space to store some of my cake stands too.

Thank you so much for visiting My Cozy Corner.

4th Cupcake Sunday

Hello Everyone!!
It's Cupcake Sunday

I'm ready for some Chocolate and Hearts.

I'm joining Between Naps on the Porch for Met Monday
Little Red House for Mosaic Monday
and
Hoosier Homemade for Cupcake Tuesday

Before

Since I started my Cupcake Sunday I have been collecting Cupcake Cookbooks.  I found this beautiful photograph of Valentine Heart Cupcakes and wanted to try making the hearts.
I didn't follow the recipe for the cupcakes or topping(frosting) but, I did what was suggested to make the valentine hearts.  I collected my ingredients and away I went.

For Christmas my daughter gave me this fabulous cupcake holder.  I knew I was going to make cupcakes with the addition of red for Cupcake Sunday.
The next Cupcake Sunday with be after Valentine's Day so I want to wish you a very Happy Valentine's Day from My Cozy Corner

I think in all the years that I have been cooking I have only used Marzipan maybe once.  So when this Special Occasion came up I knew I wanted to play with Marzipan.

Yes, I did have red hands but, it washed right off with hand soap.
I would compare Marzipan with Play Dough.
I rolled it into 1/4 inch thickness
I used the whole box of marzipan for 16 hearts and red food coloring gel.
confectioner's sugar, for dusting and let dry for 3-4 hours.

Very nice cupcake papers.

To cut the hearts I used a heart rubber stamp and took a sharp knife and cut around the heart.  It worked very well and the heart cutters to purchase were to small or to large. And, of course I was being thrifty and didn't want to buy anything if I already had something at home to use.

Very inexpensive cake mix and very moist.

Tablescape # 18

Tea and UNO
Hello Everyone!
While on vacation with my Granddaughters last May. They taught me how to play UNO. Oh my goodness did we laugh and now it's a joke that Grandma didn't know what UNO meant.  LOL!!!
So this afternoon I invited them over for Tea and UNO
We played two rounds in an hour and a half.
What a Hoot...

Did you know...
...UNO was first sold in a barber shop in Ohio in 1971?
...shouting "UNO" means you only have one card left in more than 80 countries?...more than half a billion UNO cards are now printed every year?
Forty years on, UNO continues to be the standard for family play and America's #1 card game* looks forward to the next 40 years.
I found this 40th Anniversary Edition and just had to buy it.

I set the tea table by the dining room window because it's a lovely day with the sun shining through the windows. And,  I have my first Camellia bloom that hasn't completely opened yet, but I wanted to put some flowers on the table for interest and this lonely bloom is the only flower I could find in my entire garden.

I WANT SPRING TO COME

Since the girls were coming over after school I thought I would make a treat for us.
I found this recipe in Tea Time January/February 2008

ANGELIC BLACK CHERRY TRIFLE

Well, Let's see. We have two angels, tea and UNO

to make:
1. (.3-ounce) package black cherry gelatin
1 cup boiling water
1 prepared (10-inch) angel food cake, cut into 1-inch cubes
1 (20-ounce) can cherry pie filling
1 (8-ounce) container nonfat whipped topping
1/2 cup toasted almonds
1/4 cup granola
1. In a medium bowl, dissolve gelatin in water; divide evenly between small trifle dishes; refrigerate for 20 minutes.
2. Evenly divide cubed angel food cake over the layers of chilled gelatin.  Top with whipped topping, cherry pie filling, toasted almonds, and granola.  Serve immediately.
Can be made with sugar-free ingredients.

YUM!!!!!

I used my vintage Serva-Snack Set that I received as a Wedding gift.  I have 6 sets and I have used them for 50 years. They were produced at Anchor Hocking Glass Corporation.

Beth (9) and Lexi (10)
We are ready to have tea and play a couple of games of UNO just for fun.

I hope you have enjoyed your visit to My Cozy Corner.

An Evening in January

Hello Everyone!!!
I'm so excited!!! I've been waiting for a nice evening to take some photos of the beautiful skies we have been seeing the last few days in Northern California.  I  was driving in the car last night and saw the most incredible sky but I didn't have time to take a photo.  So I planned to play tonight for a few minutes as the sun had almost set and the most wonderful glow was left in the sky. It is so gratifying to look in the viewfinder and compose a photo and experiment with the different exposures on my camera.  It's always amazing to me what light in the sky does in just a few minutes.

I'm joining A Southern Daydreamer for Outdoor Wednesday

I was so surprised when I opened this file and saw a shadow of the moon. I think the other spot on the photo is a star.

I love blogging and what a great pastime.  The silhouettes of the bare trees are so beautiful.

Thank you so much for joining me for an Evening in January
