Sunflower Tea Time

Hello everyone,
It's been awhile since I have written a post.  If this is your first time visiting,
I love to write about tea time, traveling and family.  A few years ago, I would
cook and bake up a storm, but my husband has diabetes and sugar has been removed
from our diet.  I have been publishing a tea time every month this year to
use for my 2918 Tea Time calendar coming on sale in November.
This month is all about Sunflowers. I found the beautiful Sunflowers at the grocery store, and I have my favorite place in my dining room for tea time photography.  The tea table is covered with a vintage tablecloth from the thrift store.
The Franciscan teacups and saucers are a thrift store find also.
The Sunflower napkin rings are from the thrift store. My great-grandmother's
tea spoon is ready to stir a cup of tea.  I love to find great vintage items and bring
them home to treasure for my lifetime. Our dining room faces the South, and the
bright sun is not the natural light I would love to use for my calendar,
so I use the cafe curtains while I photograph Tea Time.

The French Country teapot I purchased in Brookings, Oregon while  I
was touring the Oregon Coast during 2008.
I have a little news about our weather.  We had a shower of rain last Thursday, and
the fires and smoke are much less this week.  The triple-digit temperatures are
gone for a week or so.    Forcast is beautiful weather for the first day of Autumn
on September 22, 2017.

Thanks for visiting My Cozy Corner
Joyously,
Betty

Living Room~Before and After

Hello everyone,
Happy September. Some pretty flowers and our Living Room reveal. Back in November 2014 We purchased new living room furniture. In May of 2015 we had our living room painted, bought new carpeting and new sheers for our windows. The old sheers were 25 years old. We still have the same drapes, because they are in perfect condition.
This is our new sofa. I just love the color and fabric.
This is our old sofa and chairs.  I took this photo last fall. Go Here to see the story of our furniture purchase.
This is one end table with our advent candle chime, which I have always had in our living room on an end table year round for over fifty years. The candy dish was my mom's and she always had candy for visitors to enjoy. The old world globe was in our home when I was a child. It has all the old countries of Europe, before they were consolidated by larger more powerful countries.  It  is so interesting to see how the world has changed in the past 75 years.
The sofa looks like leather, but it's not. I wanted a sofa with nail trim. A cloche filled with decorative pieces of wood and natural straw balls.
 I love my Wicker Demijohn...
A little basket on our coffee table with my vintage L.E. Smith amber candy dish with a straw ball and a little ceramic duck.
Nothing expresses the month of the September better than Sunflowers.
What is my style? Comfortable and cozy. I decorate with what I love. I love
wildlife. The vintage duck decoys belonged to my dad. When I was young my dad would go duck hunting every winter and put the duck decoys in the river to attract other ducks. My dad was amazing. He would bring home a limit of ducks every time.
Some pillow  love.
While my granddaughter and I were shopping at K Mart for school supplies
 I spotted this pillow

Thanks for visiting today and I hope you have a great week.

Signs of Autumn in the Garden

Hello everyone,
Well, we're half-way through September and the last of the hot days are almost over.  Hopefully in a couple of weeks we will have the wonderful moderate temperatures we so enjoy during the Autumn months.
I'm always amazed since I've been blogging to look back at the changes the in the garden. In May this border is so sparse, but I have moved the yard decor around and the border has filled in with an abundance of greenery.

The Dahlias are a work horse of a plant, and IF and that's a big IF I dead head every few days they just keep blooming. I planted a rose and the strawberry pot is overflowing with succulents and a burnished colored coleus. Plus the fabulous sunflowers are growing by the minute.
I brought the angel back from the big garden and put the white urn in the big garden planted with a big fern under a shade tree. Sometimes I feel as if I've got two homes.
Clean and rearrange one and then clean and rearrange the other one.
Inside, outside, inside, outside.
I love the pink color of this dahlia.  I would like to buy some dinner plate size dahlias and plant them in this space next year. The short pink ones in front and some big tall white ones in the back against the fence.
Don't you think that would look pretty?
If you look close you can see the dead ones. I might save some seeds and put them in my secret garden next year.
The sunflowers are growing fast and furious.
Ta-Da
Here they are in all their glory.
This sunflower is called Autumn Harvest.  They are petite compared to my sunflowers I grew last year.
My Cozy Corner banner has photos of the larger size sunflowers.
Both are nice to have. I tried to plant large and small this year, but the large ones didn't germinate.
I had a little fun with photo shop and added some romance to my sunflower photo.
I love to garden. Can you tell?
Thank you so much for visiting me. I love company...

All About My Sunflowers

I love September
Welcome everyone,
Hope you are having a wonderful holiday weekend.
Sweetheart and I had a fun weekend.
We bought a cute BOAT. To see our boat go to my face book page.
This year my sunflowers are a smaller size and two different varieties.
Hopefully this group will last a few weeks.
Wonderful centerpiece for late Summer picnic on the patio.
This sunflower is the variety I grew last year.
I love this big brown center and the short golden petals.
The sunflower reaching for the sun.
I love my sunflowers.
I enjoyed playing with my photos today and already thinking about what kind of sunflowers to plant next year.
Thank you for visiting and have a great week.

Tablescape # 53 *Sunflowers and Acorns*

Welcome everyone.
The country kitchen is set with Sunflowers and acorns.
Autumn is just around the corner (Saturday September 22, 2012)

Acorns are bountiful. The acorn dishes are the inspiration for this tablescape.
Thanksgiving 2011 also featured the acorn plates. Here
The stemware with the gold trim is a perfect match to the gold flatware on my Autumn table.

To kickoff the fall season.  Did you get the pun (kickoff) football, autumn leaves, acorns and the last bright sunflowers reaching for the sky.
Is there a correct placement for the acorn plate? Acorn top up or down?

I  found the lovely yellow pottery tea cups and saucers at a thrift shop. The soft buttery yellow compliments the yellow design on my tea pot. The little sunflower votive candles I found at TM on clearance.

The .99 cent store provided the cream colored plates.
I think the cream color adds a natural earthiness. Instead of stark white.

I have waited patiently until the end of Summer for an abundance of blooms on the sunflowers to arrange this bouquet. I wanted a full and colorful bouquet with several different colors and sizes.
To see more Sunflowers  Here.

The gold trimmed salad plates were a 50th wedding anniversary gift. Ralph Lauren
I found this glittery autumn leaf patterned fabric to make four napkins.
The leafy napkins and the bling from the glitter blends wonderfully with the warm wood table.
The green dinner plates are another thrifty find from the Dollar Tree.

Handmade napkin rings with acorns add a little bit of whimsy to the place setting.

The dinner plates are Ralph Lauren. Also a Golden Anniversary gift.
The flower bucket was kicking around awhile. It was green and I painted it white and took some brown stain and dabbed it on the bucket. I found a sticker of the Eiffel Tower and glued it to the bucket.
Ta - Da  A french flower bucket.
I love serving tea with dinner. My tea pot has the same golden yellow color of the sunflowers and the amber trim accents the acorn plates.
My french pillow and caramel colored candles glow on my country table. It's so romantic.
A final look at the First Fall Tablescape for 2012...

I hope I've brightened your day!
