*Remember Pearl Harbor Today*

This is a repost of our trip to Hawaii in April 2012.
I was so blessed to share this experience with my two granddaughters.
Hello Everyone,
During my vacation to Oahu, Hawaii this month I had the privilege to share the experience of the USS Arizona Memorial with my daughter and granddaughters. The USS Arizona is built over the wreck of the battleship USS Arizona and was dedicated on Memorial Day 1962.  It serves as a lasting tribute to the 1,177 men who lost their lives on the "Day of Infamy".
Memorial Day
May 28, 2012
marks the 70TH Anniversary of the Memorial.

The USS Arizona tells the story of how World War II started.

The USS Missouri tells the story of  how World War II ended.
Next to the USS Arizona Memorial Visitors Center, is moored the battleship known as
"Mighty Mo"
Particularly stirring is a walk on the Surrender Deck, where on September 2, 1945, Japan signed the "Instrument of Surrender" ending World War II.

~Swimming with the Dolphins~

Hi everyone,
Welcome to an adventure at Sea Life Park Hawaii.
While in Hawaii my daughter wanted to 'Swim with the Dolphins' on her birthday.
On Saturday May 5th. The girls swam with the Dolphins.
The girls had a great time swimming  and I was the photographer.
I used my telephoto lens/Canon EFS 55-250.
While in the water the girls learned about daily dolphin life and interacted with them up close and personal in the intimate and educational adventure.
Ready to
 Swim with the Dolphins?

They're very excited!!!

~Fun in the Sun~

Hello,  everyone,
While on vacation this past May,  Go Here. My daughter and I rented a car and took a drive to wonderful beach located on Oahu's windward coast. You can see why they call it the Windward Coast.
Kailua Beach is about 30 minutes from Honolulu and Waikiki where we were staying.
Windsurfing is very popular in Oahu, and Kailua Beach is known for its steady trade wind breezes, and offers the perfect conditions  for Windsurfing and Kitesurfing.

Two girls, two floaties and the most beautiful white sandy beach!
LIFE IS GOOD!

Windsurfing combines elements of both surfing and sailing.
The Kailua Beach is surrounded by a protective bay
and the consistent winds provides the perfect location for Windsurfing.

Always a sand castle in the making.

Kailua is a must visit for Kitesurfing/Kiteboarding.
The beach has the best all around conditions for this sport  any where in Hawaii.

There is a beautiful grass area to stage the kites and a sandy beach for the launch.

It's late afternoon and I watched the kitesurfers set up for their launch.
More kitesurfers kept coming to the beach...
I think they play after work.  I would!

Beautiful day!

Reminds me of water skiing without a boat.

The girls were very impressed too!

~FUN IN THE SUN~
We had a wonderful day playing in the sun
watching a beautiful sport and
sharing some fabulous quality time together.

Thank you for visiting My Cozy Corner

Enjoy Some Polynesian Fun!

Hello Everyone,
Welcome to the Polynesian Cultural Center in Hawaii.
The girls and I enjoyed a wonderful day and evening visiting the beautifully appointed Cultural Center.
My favorite part of visiting the center is the parade of islands.  The center has an exciting performance with the canoe pageant and my favorite island is Tahiti.  WOW!!!

The girls.  Beth is 10 years old is standing in the middle.  Every family has a drama queen!
We had a great time eating, laughing and sharing a wonderful experience.

The spectacular 42-acre Polynesian Cultural Center brings to life the traditions, history and hospitality of the islands of the South Pacific.

Each island demonstrates the way of life in the early days  on the islands.
This is on the island of Samoa, where the coconut is used for clothing, food, fire and music.

The Samoan is showing us how to open a coconut in ONE EASY STEP.

The canoe pageant starts with the island of Tahiti and the island of Hawaii is next.
The costumes are the authentic dress of the early settlers of the Hawaiian islands.

The colors are so bright and amazing dances are performed by the entertainers.
We saw all the islands perform again in the evening show call  HA: Breath of Life.
Fabulous.  A must see.

Last canoe is the ~KING~ and court.

Before the Canoe Pageant starts a canoe comes along the edge of the bank and sells this wonderful
Sherbet Delight dessert.  Of course we had to have one.  So Hawaiian!

While at the Luau Dinner a show is presented.  Explaining all the different kinds of dress of the King's court.

Grand place to visit if you are on the island of Oahu in Hawaii.

Real Pineapple & Faux Pineapple

I Love Pineapple!!!!!

While driving on the road to Hana, Maui I stopped and bought a fresh pineapple.  Kimi showed me how to cut the pineapple.  When cutting the eyes from the pineapple with a diagonal cut more fruit is saved.  After all the diagonal cuts are made just cut into four pieces and Wa La a juicy and delicious pineapple.

I saw some beautiful tropical fruit.

I was in Maui on Mother's Day and my daughter and granddaughters decided to give me a Mother's Day gift.  As I said, "I Love Pineapple."  We went to Lahaina for our last shopping day and I was so surprised when THE SWEET DARLINGS GAVE ME A  PINEAPPLE PURSE.

I was so happy.

Thank you for visiting me today.  I'm joining Cindy @ My Romantic Home for Show and Tell Friday and I 'm joining Michael @ Designs by Gollum for Foodie Friday.
Please leave a comment.  I love to read them.
xoxo
