~Spring Fling~

Hello Everyone,
I'm having my own Spring Fling @ My Cozy Corner. It's been busy here in the garden lately. I was in the garden most of last week. I try to work only about four hours a day.  Pulling yellow dandelion and planting annuals for our garden tour.
The daffodils are just beautiful. I couldn't wait to set a bench tablescape.
Tea Time on a picnic bench. Oh my! I'm so blessed.
The daffodils are so beautiful. I bought a bag of daffodils called  "The Works" from White Flower Farm. (not a sponsored post)  They are truly amazing and I have "The Works" to show for it. Check it out HERE. I planted the yellow pansies last month and the plants are filling out nicely. I found the darling vase for the pansies at Michaels on clearance.
Blue and White pitcher and yellow flowers are a winner every time...
St. Francis is watching over the garden.
Silly me! The little lamb is souvenir from our trip to Colonial Williamsburg VA. They have the most adorable lambs in their fields. Leicester Longwool lambs are the rare breed they raise. HERE
My little lamb is smelling one of my daffodils.
I love having a cup of tea under my Flowering Plum tree. The little red flowers are falling from the tree as I take these photos.
This Johnson Brothers tea pot is one of my favorites. I found the tea pot, pitcher and a creamer at the thrift store. What a great find. ♥
I love the mix...
The Denim quilt was a gift to me from my son about 30 years ago. This is the best quilt to take anywhere. It is priceless at the sandy beach. The sand just shakes right off. The little pocket is to hold things and I thought a vintage hankie would be just perfect for today.
My mother's hiking boots. I have fond memories of my mom wearing these boots when I was young.
Check out my February Journal HERE.
What a difference a few weeks of warm weather does for a growing garden.
What a wonderful sunny afternoon.
Anyone ready for a Garden Tour? I've put a new flower on my hat.
Joyously,
Betty

I loved Naples!

Oh, It's so wonderful to remember
Good Times!
Pompeii

We are in the beautiful city of Naples, Italy.  The cruise ship docked at the pier on August 3, 2010 at 8:00 a.m. and we left the pier at 8:45 a.m. to see the Ruins of Pompeii.

Naples, Italy is the boisterous birthplace of marinara boasts churches, palazzi and museums galore.  Nearby is Pompeii where meticulous excavation has bared the soul of a city frozen in time since AD 79.

From the pier, it was a 45-minute ride by motor coach to the remarkable ruins of Pompeii, perfectly preserved since the eruption of Mt Vesuvius in AD 79.  Vesuvius is best known for the eruption of AD 79 that led to the destruction of the Roman cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum and the deaths of up to 25,000 people.  It has erupted many times since and is today regarded as one of the most dangerous volcanoes in the world because of the population of 3,000,000 people living nearby.  During our tour of Pompeii we learned about the excavation technique and what the residents were doing at the time of the eruption, and we gained an insight into the lives of the ancient Romans as we discover baths, theatres, temples, markets and the huge forum.  We stopped at a local cameo factory before returning to the ship and back to the present-day.  What an amazing sight to see.  The Ruins of Pompeii

I hope you have enjoyed your visit. And, I am joining  Little Red House for Mosaic Monday. Please link back to A Little Red House to see some amazing Mosaics.

Birds of a Feather Flock Together Tablescape

Hello everyone,
No truer words were said...Birds of a Feather Flock Together. Yes, We Do!
I photographed this tablescape yesterday morning and after lunch I was planting in the garden. I don't usually plant annuals, but this year because of the garden tour I'm planting of instant color.
Now back to tablescaping. I won a gift certificate from French Bleu Vintage a few years ago and I picked this vintage bird cage. My little birds have another home outside in the patio, but they consented to come inside for couple of days. LOL
March is a busy month at My Cozy Corner. On Sunday we had a family dinner for Sweetheart. He is now 72 years old. Between birthdays and garden I'm one busy old lady. This jeweled napkin ring caught my eye at the thrift store about a month ago. I didn't by them at that time.  $2.00 silly me. Then I was thinking they would look nice with this table. I hopped in the car and ran over to the thrift store. I couldn't find them anywhere. Finally I asked and there they were just waiting for me to bring them home.
I love birds. When we first moved into our home the back yard was very different looking. HERE We had chickens and loved the fresh eggs each morning for breakfast while the children were growing up. Oh yes, our middle son will be 50 this Sunday. We're going out to dinner and celebrate our Patrick's birthday. He was born the day before St. Patrick's Day. What was I going to do. I had to name him Patrick. Besides I love the name. Well I sure did get off the topic of tablescaping.
Do you think the eggs are a little bit out of proportion with the size of the birds? LOL
I think they are so cute...♥

I.ve always been a a storyteller about everything. I try to stay as close to the truth as possible  These plates have a story too.
I don't know what plants they are, but they look like weeds to me.
I found the four plates at a yard sale for $2.00. I knew they would be perfect for a spring table. I was going to use them later this spring outside under the pergola, but I just couldn't wait.

Grape vine wreath, green dollar tree plates, Martha Stewart salad plates and weed plates from yard sale. Sweet♥
The place mats were on clearance at TM. There is a set of place mats, four napkins  and a table runner for $9.00. I didn't use the napkins for this tablescape because they are huge. I had this smaller contrasting green napkin that works well with my semi-shear napkins. The white flatware is from Walmart.
There you have it. My Birds~St. Patrick's Day and Spring Tablescape all
rolled into one.
Have a great weekend and hopefully we will all have a sunny Sunday.
Joyously,
Betty

Pillow Talk!

Pillow Talk
I've had a great time discovering fun projects on DIY blogs recently.
With Spring just around the corner I wanted some bird action
@ My Cozy Corner. I had a couple of small pillows, scraps of drop cloth and a french Iron-on transfer to make a couple of french bird pillows.
This is the smallest of the two pillows sitting on the love seat.

A couple of years ago I decided to change my pillows after 22 years. HERE
The sofa originally had lumbar pillows with a farm yard print.  The first cover was a beautiful flower print. Now I have a more neutral tone on my pillows and I have the versatility to decorate with patterned pillows for each season.  FUN~FUN~FUN.
Before & After
Last Thanksgiving Holiday I made this pillow HERE
Are you counting your blessings?
2014
Monograms and Delightful Birds
The birds are singing and the weather in Northern California is projected to be in the high 70's and low 80's this week and weekend. I have a POT LOAD of flowers and shrubs to plant in the garden and around the pergola. I'm so excited to get outside in the sun...
Thanks for visiting.

*Garden Journal*

Hi everyone,
Today's post is my pictorial entry in my garden journal for the month of February 2014.
I was looking back at some posts from last year, and I'm comparing what was blooming last year and what is blooming this year. The drought this year has slowed the violets from blooming. I do see signs of a few showing up.
All the statues are ready for review.
A little bunch of daffodils were planted last spring and they are blooming. The new bulbs I planted the first week of January 2014 are starting to pop out of the ground.
The pergola has electricity and I had a hanging light installed.
Today was a beautiful day and I could have been out planting some annuals, but I went to Macy's and bought a few outfits for my birthday weekend in June. I know I'm all over the place sharing everything. I need to get focused.
Oh my,  I can see the bulbs sprouting up next to the little ducks. Yay!!! LOL.
What a combination. Bird house, cherubs in my bird bath and daylilies growing before my eyes... Sweet.♥♥♥
Each morning I pour a cup of coffee and walk outside to look at the progress of my labor and love for nature.
Thanks for visiting My Cozy Corner
Joyously,
Betty
