Tea Time in Romantic England-Tablescape # 65

Hello Everyone,
Good Monday to y'all. If you are a new visitor or a follower, you know I love to pretend. My favorite pretending is with tea parties and my love for the United Kingdom and France. This weekend was so beautiful in the garden I decided to have tea in (my) Downton Abbey garden.

The beautiful pink roses with a splash of naked lady lilies are so romantic in my vintage vase.
When I arrived I had my hat and gloves and in my purse I brought my calling card.
The small white table was set with a pink and white flowered tea pot and two dainty pink and white tea cups and saucers. A vintage tea spoon was on hand to use for sugar and cream.
The garden was trimmed ready for late summer blooms.

The angel  watching over 'My Cozy Corner's ' garden

With the assistance of Bliss Victoria I was able to pretend for just a little while I was in Romantic England.
I was Inspired by the wonderful series of Downton Abbey and a peek inside the beautiful Highclere Castle and see the fabulous Gardens.
A Return to Loveliness for sure.
Thank you for visiting and I hope you enjoyed your journey.

Easy Lunch Box Favorite~Wacky Cake

Wacky Cake
Hello everyone,
I love this simple cake. The kids are going back to school this week and I was thinking about when my kids would go back to school in the fall.
In the 'Old Days' I would pack lunches for the kids every morning while they ate their breakfast. I was blessed to stay home for 20 years before I went to work outside the home. Working at home is a different kind of work.
I baked, cooked, cleaned, sewed, washed everything, ironed and gardened everyday.  My favorite thing to do was bake. I LOVE TO BAKE
My mother-in-law gave me this recipe when I was first married. I didn't know this fact until recently, but the 'Wacky Cake; is also called the 'Depression Cake" and during the Great Depression there was a shortage of eggs, milk and butter. And this cake became a favorite with people because it had the same moist and delicious flavor. Also a favorite with people who are vegan or allergic to dairy.

~I Won a Raffle~

Thanks ladies!
Hello Everyone,
I hope you had a wonderful weekend. I was so busy. Sometimes think I work(play)harder in retirement than I did while I was working full time. Oh, don't tell my old bosses. Being active is very healthy for my age group. LOL.
Well, I will get off my soap box now and tell you about this beautiful gift.
I attended a wonderful women's conference this past Saturday and I bought 10 raffle tickets for $5.00 dollars.  I think they had about 50 giveaways. I put my little tickets in my favorite things bags and thought to myself.
'I love the tea basket best of all'
Oh My Gosh, they called my number and I won a raffle.
I wanted to savor the moment and decided to share my experience with y'all,
After I removed the white bow I saw the darling vintage wool hat sitting on top of a vintage necklace and an old book of 'Little Women'  How sweet is this?
I was so excited to spread it out on the table I put the back of tea pot facing outward. (Oh, I'm left handed) Everything I do I must first remember to be right handed. I finally got it Right. LOL
Wow! I'm sure revealing many things about myself today.
I got it Right.
A Tea pot facing the front. Always has more beautiful decoration on the front.
The brown wool vintage hat has a dark brown net and a ruby colored trim around the crown of the hat.
I love English tea.
It's amazing what can come out of one basket.
I love my basket.
Thanks for visiting me today at My Cozy Corner.
What a great way to start a new week.
I see a tea time tablescape in the future, don't you?

Happy Days

Hi Everyone,
I'm so happy you've come over for a visit.  If you've been following along this week I've been sharing my staycation with you. Each year my son brings his beautiful daughters to visit Grandpa and I. To see our weekend's activities. (Saturday) Granddaughters Tea Here and (Sunday) Our Family Photo Morph. Here.
Okay, Now that we're all caught up with the weekend activities,
lets get ready for our camping trip.
The truck is packed and it looks like the 'Grapes of Wrath'-I didn't go to the lake until the campsite was all set up.
 (Good move)
The lake was beautiful with the evening sun setting over the mountains.
Whiskeytown Lake is only 22 minutes from my house. I am truly blessed.

Just in time for some campfire dessert.

I spent the night sleeping over in a tent with the top of tent open to the stars. The weather was wonderful and in the morning I woke up to the smell of delicious bacon being cooked by my son. We needed a fabulous breakfast before our day of activities got started.
And the beautiful lake. The ducks swimming calmly across the inlet.
Off to a great start! Tubing behind the patio boat.
The girls are having a great time.
Four tired girls resting on the back of the patio boat after a long day playing on the lake.
On Wednesday everyone packed up camp and came home for a nice hot shower.
After dinner they headed down to the river for an outdoor concert.
Did I go? Nope, Grandpa and I stayed home in the cool air-conditioned house...and I needed a rest.
The next day they were ready to go again.
Waterworks Park ~ here we come~
Down the raging river we go.
Up the stairs to another exciting ride.
On our staycations or vacations we always have ice cream at THREE in the afternoon.
It's very refreshing and it's a great stabilizer until dinner.
Very Cute
After the day at Waterworks we went to Turtle Bay Exploration Park to see our granddaughter receive a pin for her hours of volunteer work this summer.
She will always remember the summer of 2013.
Good Job!
And now it's time to say goodbye to a beautiful summer week with the most amazing wonderful girls.
Thank you ladies! I love you
Thank you friends and followers for giving me time and a place to express my love for my growing granddaughters. I hope they will enjoy this post as much as I do.

I get the tripod and everyone says
"Oh No"
I say Oh Yes!
The girls are posing to get the distance for the  camera. Sweetheart is in charge of the remote.
Well, some finally agree...

Granddaughters Tea

Hello everyone,
I'm happy you came to visit My Cozy Corner.
This past weekend my granddaughters had a tea party under the pergola. A few weeks ago I was getting ready for this tea. HERE And today the girls are going to drink cold pink lemonade, eat strawberries and nibble on a shortbread cookie while enjoying some cousin time. Its been a year since they've been together.
The girls set the tea table and sat back to enjoy a late afternoon snack.
While I was visiting the Lavender Farm last month I bought this darling little frenchy centerpiece.  Perfect for the girls tea.
Petites Fleurs means Little Flowers. I have four Little Flowers visiting me.
Many flowers are going to be shown off in this little rustic container.
A petite spoon and a delicious shortbread cookie on the saucer of my thrifty 'Haviland' china.
I found a sheer window panel on clearance and I made four sheer napkin covers.
I designed and made the blueberry napkin rings to use with the blue linen napkins and the new sheer covers. The total cost of napkin project was $5.00.

The lace trimmed eyelet tablecloth I found at my favorite thrift shop a couple of weeks ago. And the flatware is 'First Love' my wedding silver pattern.
Ava, Lexi, Beth and Olivia are ready to start having some Summer Fun.
Please follow along this week as I enjoy a wonderful week photographing a vacation with my  granddaughters.
