Tablescape # 56 - Thanksgiving

Welcome everyone,
It wouldn't be Thanksgiving without a Thanksgiving Tablescape. I was planning to do this intimate table for a pre-Thanksgiving table and another larger table in the dining room for Thanksgiving, but life happens. I will keep the ideas for the big table setting and hopefully set that table next year. This is my Thanksgiving tablescape for 2012.  As you know, or don't know, I was away for a couple of weeks taking care of family affairs. This table has some keepsakes from my mother's estate. A simple and thrifty table setting with  a sentimental touch.
The turkey bread and butter plates were the inspiration for this petite table setting.  I bought them at TM.
"Spode" Celebration - Made in China
While in Raley's grocery store a few days ago, I spotted this precious turkey made from twigs and pine cones. He was very thrifty and cute. He was only $7.99 on sale. After I put him on the table runner I decided to follow the idea of  'hunting the garden' and found a couple of pomegranates hanging from the tree, and a few branches with some autumn color.
The weather has been on the cool and rainy side this past week. I really have wanted to sit by the fire and enjoy a quite dinner.  I placed the autumn colored runner on the tea table, covered my extra chairs with their new covers and build a cozy fire in the fireplace. I bought the tall candle holders at TM and have two battery operated candles sitting on the holders next to the fireplace. I love safety in my old age...

While I was helping my sister with some arrangements, I collected some keepsakes to bring home. I found a box of old silverware...I had never seen before. In the box I found some of the silverware monogrammed with  my Great-grandmother's initials and other beautiful old pieces of silverware.
The pomegranate seeds make a great addition to a salad.
The white salad plate is 'Sango' Athens pattern  my mother's everyday dishes.
The wooden handle knives are Regent Sheffield Made in England...

Wishing you all a wonderful Thanksgiving and a time to reflect on what we are grateful for.
Sweetheart and I will be spending the holiday with our family and friends.  While visiting our family we will enjoy one of our Thanksgiving traditions. Before we start to eat dinner each person tells what they are most grateful for this year.
I am grateful for my wonderful and loving family.

  8. Dear Betty,
What an unbelievable buy that turkey was. Good one! I am smitten by those beautiful silver pieces. I love monograms and that is a special one and the raised design on the other piece. Just lovely.
