Winter Soup Tablescape

Hello everyone,
It's raining again this week, and the forecast is for rain
until late next week. During the rainy days
I love having a crock pot of Winter soup cooking on low
all day long. I can serve soup for lunch or dinner.
The Green Cabbage Leaf bowls are perfect for soup.
The white square plate can hold a delicious slice of
French bread covered with garlic and Parmesan cheese.
The little green Vintage glasses hold a beverage and one is used
as a vase for fresh oregano, I picked from my herb garden.
This spot is where we love to eat our lunch or snacks.
The island divides the kitchen from the dining room.
Being retired for ten years, I  sometimes wonder
how other retirees plan menus. Do you eat breakfast,
lunch, and dinner? Do you have dessert in the evening?
Every day this island is a busy place.
The Keurig coffee maker is on
the right side of the table setting. I prepare
afternoon snacks, and I serve buffet dinners
from the island at family celebrations.
You can see the back counter is my baking center.
For handy reference, my collection
of celebrity cookbooks stored next to the counter.
I love my kitchen and on rainy days
I am busy preparing goodies to share with you
and my family.

Bistro napkins completely cover the lap.
Black handled flatware, and black napkin rings
add a casual look to my farmhouse kitchen tablescape.
Save a mosaic.
Thank you for visiting today.
I would love to hear how you
spend your retirement days.
Joyously,
Betty

  1. Good morning. We had rain last night into the morning here in So CA.

I am also retired and since I live alone, I really don't have a set schedule. I get up, hit the bathroom and then head for the kitchen and turn the coffe on. I have no set time as to what time I get up. After so many years of getting up at 5:30 am it took a little time to adjust to sleeping in.

I really don't plan menus since it's just me, but try to always have breakfast after I feed the dogs, do dishes, shower, make the bed and head outside to take care of chores in the yard. Maybe work a little in the garden, if I am not doing housework.

I have COPD so I work until I get tired, sit awhile and get back up and finish. I try to have dinner around 5 - 5:30.

I lead a nice comfortable life. I now have a room mate, she is kind and considerate and I feel better having someone here with me. I have 2 dogs who are the loves of my life and keep me in line LOL My son lives in Los Gatos, CA, so don't see him very often. Usually spend Christmas and my Birthday with them.

I loved your winter table scape, it's so nice and fresh. The green looks like Spring.

    Have a wonderful weekend.

    Mary

  2. I don't often see tablescapes done with soup bowls. Love this.

  3. I love your majolica soup bowls - and anything green this time of year gets us through the duldrums of long grey days and cold dark nights.

I love a good hot bowl of soup this time of year - in fact made some the other day and gave a big ole container of it to my daughter today. She's the mother of my first wee grandchild, and has her hands full. Thought she'd appreciate one less meal or two to have to make. : - )

    Stay warm and snuggled!
