Hello everyone,
Last week I showed you my Winter wreath on the front porch. Today we are coming into the warm house to check out my Valentine tables from the past. I hope you will get some inspiration. Each year sweetheart and I celebrate Valentine's Day with a special dinner at home. The photos are from my blog archives.
I truly love Valentine's Day because it's the day Sweetheart asked me to marry him.
We met in the Spring of 1959. I was a senior in high school and my future husband was a junior. We sang in the high school choir and one day we were practicing a song from "My Fair Lady" I looked up to the top row of bass singers and I saw this darling face smiling at me. I was smitten and amazed. He was so cute. We dated and fell in love and on February 14th 1960 we drove to San Francisco to have dinner and see a movie to celebrate Valentine's Day. While we were having dessert Sweetheart gave me an engagement ring and proposed to me. We were married on July 17th 1960.

I love chocolate and sitting in the living room in front of the fireplace is so romantic.
I set a tea time table with my pink and white Church Hill dishes and baked some Valentine cupcakes to have for dessert.
Romance is the theme for a Valentine's Day dinner. Candlelight and Red Tulips are pretty romantic. I am a romantic and I will always love Valentine's Day...
This year my husband and I are celebrating our 55th Valentine's Day dinner together. We will stay at home and cook a delicious meal remembering that wonderful night in San Francisco so many years ago.
I hope you enjoyed my story and hopefully you will or already living a long and happy married life. I'm happy to say my husband and I are in fairly good health and enjoy our retirement years. We are blessed to have a home, garden and hobbies to keep us busy and happy. My joy is blogging and sharing with you my experience, strength and hope for the future.
Thank you followers and fellow bloggers for featuring my blog during the month of January. Thank you all for visiting My Cozy Corner.
Joyously,
Betty

ReplyDeleteWhat a romantic story and posting, Betty. I think it's wonderful that you two fix your dinner together. Your menu sounds delicious; love scallops! All your tables are so pretty and I adore the red transferware of course. I have a crystal hurricane lamp almost identical to yours and I must use it to hold a bouquet as it looks fabulous! So glad you have shared this with us and joined me for Tea Time. Happy Valentines week and Happy Anniversary!!

Sandi
