Hello everyone,
Yes, Peony season is over in many parts of our country.
But I captured this photo in May when I came home from
my vacation with Four Ladies Go Traveling.
While visiting the Biltmore Estate, I bought a teacup and
saucer in one of the many gifts shops on the property.
I took my tea party outside to enjoy the beautiful spring weather.
The little bistro table under the pomegranate tree is a perfect place to have
my cup of tea and the iron garden bench in the background is
surrounded by hostas and perennial coral bells.
I was so grateful I came home to at least a bouquet or two of peonies
The rose peony bushes were transplanted from my mother's
garden when she passed away in November 2012. Every year
they are more beautiful than the year before.
The Vanderbilt Service is Adapted from a large Sèvres tea service
circa 1888. Currently on display in the Oak Sitting Room in
Biltmore House.
The vintage teaspoon holds loose tea. This teaspoon was my
favorite spoon to use when I was a young girl enjoying
afternoon tea with my mother and sister.
Hope you have enjoyed having tea with me today.
I have chosen one of these photos to add to my
2018 tea time calendar.
Have a great weekend.
Joyously,
Betty

What a fun group of ladies... a trip to the Biltmore would be so much more fun like minded friends... Love the tea cup. Very elegant!!! I only have two peonies.. I need many, many more!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love your peonies - such a wonderful color of rose, magenta, whatever! I love that their color is echoed in the gorgeous Sevres reproduction tea cup.

Dear Betty:
ReplyDeleteYou have set a splendid table and your peonies are amazing. I love the colors you used and blended together. A trip to the Biltmore would be lovely at any time! Thank you for sharing and linking.
What a pretty tea party in the garden. The teacup is a great souvenir from Biltmore.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous teacup and beautiful flowers!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a pretty cup and saucer. I am of a generation who received them as shower gifts. I still have mine and some of my mother's cups and saucers too. Peonies are my favourite flowers. I wish I could get them all year. The season is just too short.

I adore the Biltmore Estate. I'm pretty sure I could live there. Your peonies are luscious. I wish mine lasted longer, too. Thanks for inviting us for a peek. Cherry Kay
ReplyDeleteBetty, I'd love to visit the Biltmore Estate. And the teacup you bought is probably the one I would have chosen as a souvenir. Love your peony story!
ReplyDeleteBetty, what a lovely time you must have had at the Biltmore. The Christmas decorations they display every year are among some of my favorite and popular pins on Pinterest! Your teacup is gorgeous, the gilt detail is quite exquisite. Your flowers bring out the detail perfectly!
