Golfing with the Deer!

Hello everyone,
I hope you're having a beautiful weekend. I wanted to share more memories of our little trip to the Pacific Coast for my sweetheart's birthday.
I shared the beginning of our trip in my last post. HERE
We drove to Pacific Grove and enjoyed a wonderful day of golf and photography. I don't golf, but I sure love to ride in the golf cart and photograph the fabulous scenery. We started at the driving range for a couple of practice swings.
While at the driving range I spotted some deer leisurely eating in the back of the driving range. They don't seem very concerned about being hit with a ball.
Then I spotted the back side of a lighthouse. I knew at that moment it was going to be a glorious day for photography...
We then went to the putting green for a few putts. My sister and sweetheart are golfing with another couple. My brother-in-law is recovering from shoulder surgery and couldn't play golf.  He and I enjoyed driving the golf carts and watching the dear golfers and the deer.
Sweetheart contemplating the next shot. And of course the deer are close  grazing in the grass nearby.
As we went from one hole to the next I would see something interesting to photograph. How about a TWO MILLION DOLLAR HOUSE FOR SALE. I'll take one please. LOL
Around the corner at the next tee was the front of the lighthouse
I love lighthouses. They have so much history and they are always placed in the most interesting places. Like right in the middle of a golf course.  You know I'm kidding. The Point Pinos lighthouse was built in 1853-1854 one of the original seven to be built on the California coast.
Point Pinos Lighthouse was lit in 1855 to guide ships on the Pacific coast of California. It is the oldest continuously operating lighthouse on the West Coast of the United States and even the lens is original.Wikipedia
Lots of brush around the lighthouse and the deer love to nibble on the sage under the brambles. Peek-a-boo!
On the back nine holes of the Pacific Grove Links golf course are the most breath taking views of the Pacific Ocean. I love the waves splashing over the rocks and the white rocks against the beautiful blue ocean.
The weather was perfect. Actually spring time is the best time to visit the ocean. During the summer when the valley heats up the fog rolls in on the coast. I'm a valley girl, but I love to visit the ocean especially when the sky is blue and the clouds look puffy and cotton-like.
Hope you have enjoyed our day. Our next stop is going to be one of my favorite things to do.  I bet you can guess what it is.
Joyously,
Betty

  2. Those deer are pretty tough to be grazing in full range of the golf balls :-) What a fantastic place to practice and yes, what a great house to buy if money was no object (I feel you would be replacing windows quite a bit though!). Have a wonderful Sunday xx

  3. Beautiful location for a lighthouse! I hope no golfballs go through the glass. lol Amazing how trusting the deer are. They must think golfers always hit their balls in the direction they want them to go. ;)

  4. I enjoy the ocean in the Springtime and Winter more than the summer. You got some fun shots. Interesting spectators for the golf game! :)

  5. Looks like you had a wonderful trip to the coast with your dear and the deer. They are everywhere around here, too. Lighthouses are fascinating. I always enjoy touring one when I can.

  7. Wow that's amazing how relaxed the deer are. What a great visit to a golf course! Love the lighthouse. We have a lot in Michigan and I hope to visit them all. Thanks for sharing- I enjoyed seeing your pictures.

  8. I love lighthouses and I enjoyed seeing this one on your post! I visited Pacific Grove twice but I did not know this pretty one was in the area. Did you happen to see the bench by a park near the bay that is dedicated to a resident of Pacific Grove that perished in the Pentagon on 9-11? I wrote a blog post about it a few years ago. It is a beautiful spot!

  9. That would be my idea of a day of golf too Betty - riding around in the cart and taking pictures. Wow, I could live in a mansion like that if we ever win the lottery. LOL
The lighthouse is much different than the ones I saw when visiting the east coast of Canada.
Thank you for linking to Mosaic Monday.

  11. Hello dear Betty
    What an interesting post!
It's like a travelogue for me – as I've never visited America!
I live in New Zealand surrounded by the Pacific Ocean on one side - so this coastline is familiar to me - it's lovely!
What a picturesque course - I'm intrigued by the deer everywhere!
Oh the house - I could live there too!
Lovely to meet up again Betty at Karen's Sunlit Sunday and Judith's Mosaic Monday.
