Summer Tea Time

Hello everyone,
I love the colors of late summer.
Despite the smoke and from our forest fire. Go here
The roses have a few blooms and are trying to survive.
I still have my Paris vacation on my mind, and wanted to add a
photo of a souvenir tea towel I carried home in my suitcase.
The Eiffel Tower is amazing. We enjoyed a picnic lunch
on the second floor at 58 Tower Restaurant.
This photo is for August 2019 Tea Time calendar.
The teacups are Johnson Brothers and my great-grandmother's
sterling silver teaspoon with her monogram on the handle.
We visited the sights written on the tea towel.
We visited Disneyland Paris, Eiffel Tower,
Versailles, Louvre, Trocadero, and rode the double-decker bus.
On our last night in Paris, we cruised down the Seine River
and watched the Eiffel Tower light up at midnight.
We did much more than I have shared,
but I will write about that in upcoming posts.
Thank you for visiting My Cozy Corner.
Joyously,
Betty

Fall Almond Pear Gaulette

Hello Everyone,
Things have been busy around here lately.  I have been scrapbooking and
staying in the house out of the smoke. On July 23, 2018, a forest fire
broke out about 20 minutes from our house.  The smoke and ash were
so toxic, and my husband and I have been housebound for over a month.
This is the story:
The fire was started when a flat tire on a vehicle caused the wheel's rim to scrape against the asphalt, creating sparks that set off the fire. On July 26, the fire jumped the Sacramento River, making its way into the city of Redding, causing the evacuation of 38,000 people.
My garden has suffered as well as my husband and me.
Now I want to share with you about the fabulous Pear Galette.
It will be Fall on September 22, 2018, and I thought I would make this scrumptious
dessert from the pears a friend gave me from the tree he has at his mountain home.
Ice cream is always a great companion to a fruit galette.

Hopefully, we will get some rain soon,  I can clean my garden and enjoy
some cooler, smoke-free air next month.

Thanks for visiting today,
Hope you have a great week.
Joyously,
Betty
