Mother Goose Tea Time

Hello everyone, 

I can't believe it's March already. 

February went by so fast. With only 28 days in

the month, my blog was put on the back burner for 

a couple of weeks. As I was saying in my last post
 about taking better care of myself.  HERE

I finished 2016 income tax preparation for our accountant.

I started the SilverSneaker® Fitness program offered
 by most Humana Medicare plans at my local gym. 

And between the days of rain and sunny days
I had a gardener blow three pick-up truck loads of
leaves and tree trimmings. 

Now it's the first week of March, and I am ready to enjoy 

a cup of tea and gaze at my spring blooming daffodils.

Today I took my tea party outside to the patio.

I picked different daffodil blooms from my garden 

to arrange the bouquet in my Mother Goose vase. 

Blue and white tea cups are perfect companions to

yellow and white spring flowers. My little blue and 

white creamer and vintage spoons are essentials for tea time. 

The geese napkin rings add a sweetness to my tea time.

I love the different varieties of daffodils.  I found a website with

the Daffodil Types I have in this bouquet. HERE 

While shopping at the thrift store, I found this small quilt with

a vintage pattern with white, blue and some yellow print.

This Saturday we are having a family reunion to celebrate my husband's

75th birthday. All the granddaughters will be here for our annual 

photo shoot.  We are having our famous Corned Beef and Cabbage dinner

and Lemon Meringue pie and a  flaming birthday cake. LOL!!

My granddaughter came over last week and helped me put the table leaves in
the big heavy table. We found the large tablecloth, and she ironed 16 linen napkins,
 plus washed the inside of the dining room windows.  

What a blessing it is to have a young helper.

Six Angels for Six Granddaughters

Hello everyone, 

Welcome back to My Cozy Corner. I hope you enjoyed

My Love Story for Valentine's Day. HERE

My husband and I had a quiet evening at home delighting 

ourselves on Lobster tail and salad.  We also watched the

Westminster Dog Show. The dogs are so beautiful, and

some are funny too. 

The rain stopped for a couple of days, and I worked out

in the garden raking leaves, pruning rose bushes and

grape vines. You can see by the photo above I 

have some daffodils starting to bloom and the rose bushes

trimmed. The irises will bloom in March.  I bought another

angel at Tuesday Morning a couple of weeks ago.

Now I have SIX ANGELS FOR SIX GRANDDAUGHTERS.

I started working at Tuesday Morning in July of 2011. I was 70 years old,

and I had been retired since 2007.  I was hired for inventory in June

of 2011, I took a trip to England and Scotland and when I returned 

I went right to work. The next spring (2012) the garden statues 

started to arrive at the store. I bought my first angel for my garden.

I was hooked.  The next spring, (2013) I found another one.

A pattern was developing. Now I had two angels.

In April of 2013, I retired from Tuesday Morning. I was (72) and
I wanted to travel, garden and update our home. The angel below
is the first angel I bought. 

I returned every spring to find another angel (2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 )

Some are very light to move around 

and SOME ARE VERY HEAVY.

Now I'm 75 and going to be 76 in June. And the garden clean-up
is harder for me to do myself.  I've hired a gardener to help me
with the clean-up and digging some holes for transplanting
bulbs and bushes. I don't want to give up the benefits of
working outside, but I would like to save this old body
for traveling, photography, and table setting for my
blog. I hope I can keep gardening for many years to
come. Hopefully next week all the daffodils will be
in full bloom, and the yard will be completely clean
and ready for the February Journal photo shoot.

My granddaughters will be able to have an Angel 

in their yard one day...

I am looking forward to more sunny weather soon.

I want to play outside in my potting shed and have

tea time on the patio and under the pergola.

Tasha Tudor Tea Time

Hello everyone,

I am writing this post in the afternoon of Easter Sunday.

This morning I attended a beautiful Easter Sunday service 

and after church we had a lovely brunch with 

our family. It's now the late afternoon on 

Easter Sunday, and I am writing this post 

about a most interesting women, Tasha Tudor.

Come into my guest room, and my retreat...

I have been fascinated by Tasha Tudor for years. 

While shopping at a small church thrift store

I asked the clerk if they had any Tasha Tudor 

garden books? She said " I might have

something in the storage shed" and she left 

to look in the shed.  In about five minutes

she brought back this book. I said "how much?"
She said, "one dollar" and I said "I'll take it."
Now I own my first Tasha Tudor book.

The daffodils are blooming in the garden.

FEBRUARY GARDEN JOURNAL

Hi everyone, 

I hope you are enjoying the last week of February. I'm starting to record my yearly garden journal on my blog. I didn't take any photos of January, because it was a mess.  February the garden has been cleaned up and the bushes have been pruned.  We hired three high school kids for three hours to help with the clean-up and it really helped my poor old back. I pruned and they loaded the brush in the trailer to haul to the dumps. I  think I've said this before but "I love every month of the year in the garden".  February is amazing with the new growth on the plants and the bulbs poking their leaves out of the ground. 

The daffodils are blooming in the far garden under the plum tree.

The white metal bench is waiting to have a vignette set on it for spring time folly. The grape vine is pruned and the little pots are waiting for some annuals to be planted in a week or two. 

Lambs ear, day lilies, artichoke and my yellow David Austin roses are beginning to show signs of growth.

The cuties in the bird bath and a weathered bird house. Daffodils and day lilies are surrounding the bird bath.

The wild violets I have had in my yard for 47 years. I cannot get them out of my yard. I read that if you plant them in a pot they will die. They just move around my yard from place to place. The yellow daffodils are so sweet. They are a little short variety. 

This sweet angel started my love affair with angels in the garden.
