Trip to the Coast

Hello everyone,
I'm back home from a getaway to the coast of Northern California. Sweetheart and I were married in the middle of summer and to celebrate our anniversary this year we wanted to find a cool and quaint place to visit. I think we found the perfect spot. The fabulous mansion above is The Carson House built in 1884-1885 To have a tour of the inside Go Here
Day 1
We drove around old town and over to Woodley Island Marina to have lunch and look at the fishing boats in the harbor. I absolutely love Light Houses and to photograph them is amazing. This is Table Bluff Light House . It's the same Light House in the bottom photo. After dinner we walked down to the dock in Old Town and saw the Light House from the other side of the bay. The sun was setting and the boat's reflection was glistening on the water.  It was so beautiful to see.

And the sunset was fantastic...
Day 2
We were up early and drove about 15 miles to a beautiful 18 hole gold course. We had a nice breakfast at the course and Sweetheart hit a bucket of golf balls before we started our day. I don't golf but I'm a great ball  watcher or spotter and I love riding in the golf cart.
The golf course was beautiful and I did catch some ducks in the pond relaxing as the golf balls would sail across the sky to the other side.
After our golf game we took a ride to Camel Back Rock
The sign tells the story How Camel Rock got its hump! LOL
Stopped to visit The Trinidad Head Light Built in 1871
A very interesting story about the Light House Go Here
Also a memorial for those lost at sea.
Day 3
We had some free time on Friday the day of our anniversary. The Avenue of the Giants in a 31 mile drive thru the most beautiful old growth Redwood Forest in California. I couldn't take photos as beautiful as the two I found on the website. Go Here

After our beautiful ride gazing at the Redwoods, we headed north to have our Anniversary Dinner. I was so excited to celebrate 55 years with the love of my life and also to have dinner with my sister-in-law (my flower girl in my wedding...she was 7 years old) and my brother-in-law. We had a fabulous dinner overlooking Moonstone Beach.
The sun was glowing as it set in the west.
And the glow was also in my heart to be healthy and happy on this glorious day.

♥ Tea for Three ♥

Hello everyone,
My sweetheart and I celebrated our 55th Wedding Anniversary on July 17th. and we took a little trip to the coast. I will share some photos later this week. Last week before we left town I finally took the photos of my tea time tablescape. This tea time table started out to be a 4th of July tea time tablescape, but the 4th of July came and went. I took the flag napkins off  and changed the cupcake theme from 4th of July to soft pink and white.
Lets enjoy!
Tea for Three.

My cupcakes are made with a Wilton two color cupcake insert I received for Christmas from my granddaughters. A couple of days before the 4th my granddaughter came down and we mixed two different cake mixes. One white cake mix and one strawberry cake mix. We took a frosting bag and a large tip and filled the frosting bag with strawberry cake mix and filled the insert with the strawberry cake mix. We then filled another frosting bag with the white cake mix and filled the hole in the middle of the cupcake insert with the white cake mix. After baking and cooling the cupcakes I piped on strawberry frosting and sprinkled white coconut on top. Ta da...fluffy and delicious.
White roses from my garden in a vase from my mother's collection.
The tablecloth is red, white and blue from World Market. Part of my 4th of July tablescape.
I invited the granddaughters to join me for tea and cupcakes. We love to have tea and a bit of a visit. We each have a different tea cup and I gave them the cupcakes I didn't cut open to show you the inside. I ate that one.
My napkin ring is from the thrift store and I'm mixing some patterns with the blue and white napkins and different blue and white dishes.
The White Crystalline Hybrid Tea Rose blooms all Summer long.

Tea bag caddies are a must at tea time.

Master Bedroom Before and After

Hello everyone,
I so excited to share with you my master bedroom update. In April I did an inspiration post Go Here to see how I wanted my master bedroom to look. My dream all started with this pillow. A little french style pillow I bought at Barnes and Noble and a completely new bedroom set. I have never had a matching bedroom set in my entire married life. (55 years on July 17th)  My sweetheart I are so blessed to be able to update our home at this time in our life.
This our master bedroom completed.
A simple pillow is what my sweetheart wanted to have on our bed. He goes to bed early and with one pillow on the bed it lands safely on a chair and I don't hear any swearing. LOL!
I've had this white matelasse bedspread on my old California King size bed for years. At night I fold it down to the bottom and it stays on the foot board until morning when I make the bed for the day. I made the 4 inch valances from drop cloth I found at Wal Mart. My granddaughter and I made them while we were making the pillows for the patio. We were very busy. I was looking for a sign to hang over the bed, but I found this small grape vine heart in my stash and I knew it was going to be the perfect addition to our bedroom.
My bedroom lamps are brass and I bought them in 1975 for our living room. In 1990 we remodeled our entire home and I bought new lamps for the living room and these two beauties moved to our bedroom. The photos on the wall I have had for 25 years, but the blue vases is new.  A friend was down sizing her home and she gave them to me. I just hung them last week. I love the touch of blue with the Accessible Beige wall paint.
The antique oak swivel office chair was my daddy's desk chair. I put a soft chair pad on it and I made the two crown pillows to add to my french country style.
My sweetheart installed this beautiful french door to our patio. We had an old sliding glass door for 25 years. I think you are getting the drift now. We keep everything for a long time. We love the two doors on the sides. At night when the weather is not 90 degrees all night we open them to get a cool breeze. Our whole house has the stained brown trim. I decided not to put any window treatment on this door.  I love the simple and clean look.  We installed new carpet and it's so soft and comfy to walk on in the middle of the night. The color is Roasted Barley.  I love the name too.
In the evening I close the mini blinds and turn the lamps on low. I have a fixture in the light socket in the lamps and when I touch the metal the light goes on. I don't have to reach for the switch.  Thank goodness.
Now this is what was on my bedroom walls for 25 years. I loved it in 1990, but I knew it was time for the wallpaper to go. Our painter is the best. He removed all the wallpaper and then my sweetheart and a friend textured the walls. Our painter came back and painted our bedroom and living room in three days. He is amazing. After we installed our new french door, he came back and painted the white trim. I call him Saint Raymond.
This is my inspiration board. We bought the tall dresser and that is where the ladder is standing in the photo above. We have a flat screen television hanging from the wall and the television cable box on the dresser. I will show you that side of the room in another post.
I think I did pretty good with my inspiration!
Another bit of french art on the wall going out of the bedroom door into the living room.

Updating this Master Bedroom has been so enjoyable. It is work to move everything in and out but the rewards are endless. I was a hands on assistant to my sweetheart and I am so grateful he is so talented and can do almost anything.
Thank you for visiting
Joyously,
Betty

Friend's House for the 4th

Hello everyone,
Another day to be grateful for the wonderful country we live in. On Saturday evening Sweetheart and I were invited to our friend's house to watch the city fireworks celebration. Our friend has the most beautiful home on the bluffs overlooking our city.  The garden is perfection. Statues and a fountain and other garden decor are placed in different spots around the garden. I hope you enjoy the evening.
The deck looking down to the garden.
A view of the back of the house.
I love the terraces and the beautiful black iron work on the deck.
I want this bird house in my garden.
What a great idea for gazing balls.
One of the guest's brought a fabulous cake.  She found the idea on the internet.  I love the blue bed for the stars. I researched this recipe and it takes five cakes to get the different colors to make this one cake. I love it so much I would love to bake one.  Someday maybe I will. Lol~
This cake was a show stopper!!!
Now on to the finale for the evening. Around ten o'clock the fireworks show started and lasted around thirty minutes. It's amazing to watch the beautiful fireworks in the beautiful garden of a dear friend. We are so blessed.

A mosaic for memories of fabulous evening.
The month of July has started with a BANG!
Thanks so much for visiting and please come back soon.
Joyously,
Betty
