Miss Kitty and Mr Crow for Tea

Hello Everyone,
Another joyous day at My Cozy Corner. Do you remember when I showed you the craft fair a dear friend and I attend last week?  GO HERE. I bought this beautiful  cup you see above for $10.00 dollars.
I think it looks like chintz!!! My opinion~'Queen Anne' Bone China England.

This Kitty played with some mice on my 2011 Halloween Table.GO HERE.
I invited her back this year to share some tea with Mr. Crow. I found Mr. Crow and the little fabric pumpkin at a Harvest Boutique about a quarter of a mile from my  house. The very talented lady also hosts a Christmas Boutique in her home. She and her friend work all year going to yard sales and making the most adorable things to sell.
She has handmade items, and junky treasures, and treats for three days in her home during early December. It's so much fun to visit and find holiday treasures.
I found this cute pumpkin, kitty and crow tea towel a few years ago, I love to have it on a small table with a few Halloween decorations to be in the spirit of Halloween when my granddaughters drop by for a visit.
I have been learning how to blur the background in my photos.  This is not the best example. But I'm going to learn this technique, and hopefully soon!
Last night I made a card for my dear friend of my tea cup.  While we were at the craft show a couple of weeks ago she loaned me $10.00 dollars to buy this tea cup and saucer.  Today I gave her the card and paid back my loan.  Today we also went to a church Harvest Bazaar and this time I remembered to go to the bank for cash. I found some new tea cups and linens while shopping at the church bazaar, and I will be sharing them in future tea time posts.
Everybody needs a cute crow dressed up for the Holiday.

The mums and some of the sunflowers are just finishing their last bloom.  I love beautiful orange and brown in the mini sunflower, and the mums have a beautiful bronze color.
I bought Mr. Crow for $2.50 from the talented lady. Since her home is so close to my house  I would have spend more in gas going to the Dollar Tree and trying to make it myself. Don't you love his cute necktie?

A fun mosaic to showcase cute Kitty and Crow and my beautiful thrifty tea cup and saucer.
Only a few day left in October. Where has this year gone? Have you gone to your storage for some Christmas decor?  I'm in the contemplation stage. I haven't taken any action yet.
Please join me as I show Miss. Kitty and Mr. Crow around blogland.

Tablescape #55 Halloween

 Hello Everyone!
Happy Halloween
I had so much fun today. Decorating this Halloween table and entertaining our friends for dinner while watching the all American game of 'Baseball'.  Being born 50 miles from San Francisco and spending every weekend there in my courting days, I was so happy to see the Giants play in the World Series this year.
This is our dinner menu
We had stuffed jalapeno poppers for appetizers. Hot dogs and chile beans. Our friends brought the best cole slaw and for dessert we had ice cream, chocolate candy and madeleines.
Now I know why I love to tablescape.
It's all about the HUNT! I had a blast finding the decorations for this centerpiece.
The mice are running around the house again this year. And some of them have jumped up on the table.
The spooky lite houses were on clearance at TM and the decorations on the plates were also on clearance.  The items are from last Halloween and I have moved them around the store all year.
The little houses are a hoot. The LED lights are so cute shining thru the windows.
The mice are running around on the candles
The table setting consists of everything I have used in other tablescapes.  Remember the button dishes?
Orange and Black are the traditional colors of Halloween, and also the Giants.
That worked out great for my theme tonight. And maybe Good Luck for the home team!
The mood is set with flickering candles. Very Hallow for Hallowed Eve.
The witch's hat anchors the spooky houses and black accessories give a dark spooky look~
There's Franks house and a scary ghost flying around the other house.
This is one of the thriftiest  tablescapes I have done in awhile.  I love cheap! Oh I mean inexpensive~
I love to make mosaics. And this one was really fun to design...

Blue and White Tea Time ~ French Style

Welcome,
Please come in for a cup of tea and a Orange Madeleine.
My Blue and White tea cup and saucer are 'Johnson Bros' and the sweet creamer is  'Royal Albert' Mikado Bone China England Transferware.  A couple of weeks ago one of the ladies I traveled with to England gave me the creamer and the little blue tea pot. She knows how much I love anything English.
Now, would you  like one lump of sugar or two?  I'm using my great-grandmother's teaspoon and I found some rice paper tea napkins to use today. They are very delicate.

My little angels have come in from the patio and will be spending the winter inside. I invited them to stay for tea and of course they were so grateful.
I found this glass candle holder at the GW, but the top is slanted and a candle would not stand straight. I decided to put a small rose in the top. I actually saw this in a magazine. It could have been in 'Victoria' a few months ago.
Now to the yummy part. I have always loved Madeleine or petite madeleine.  The madeleine is a traditional small cake from Commercy and Liverdun, two communes of the Lorraine region in northeastern France. Madeleines are very small sponge cakes with a distinctive shell-like shape acquired from being baked in pans with shell-shaped depressions. A gĂ©noise cake batter is used. The flavour is similar to, but somewhat lighter than, sponge cake.  Traditional recipes include very finely ground nuts, usually almonds. I used a wonderful recipe attached to the baking pan.

Some of the plants from the Fern Grotto are sitting in the corner of my dining room for the winter.
I love to have my garden in the house during the cold, wintery and rainy days.
The white roses are still blooming and will bloom until a frost hits.

What a joy it is to serve tea and cakes to the most wonderful friends. Some sources, say madeleines may have been named for a 19th century pastry cook , Madeleine Paulmier. Thank you Madeleine for the wonderful sweet treat...

Thank you for visiting My Cozy Corner today. I hope you had a pleasant time.
I'm joining some friends at these parties. Please come along.

Fall Abundance

Hello Everyone,
During the month of  September I had a bit of Fall on the mantel.
Some books, a duck carved by our son, a little pumpkin and a mirror hanging on the fireplace.
The mirror is a very important part of this story.
 A little bit of Fall
I love old books. My father gave me the dictionary in 1960 for Christmas. And the thin red and gray books are collections of poems written by my husband's grandfather.
A couple of weeks ago my Sweetheart bought a new 47" wide screen television. We had an old fashioned one for a long time sitting on an entertainment center to the right of the fireplace. Well, the NEW television is mounted on the right side of the fireplace on the brick... The moral of the story is the NEW television was not mounted on the front of the fireplace. Thank the Lord. But, I did lose about 10" of mantel space on the right end.  The mirror was out of balance and I had to find something smaller. I found this wooden plaque at TM and I moved my decor on the mantel over 10" on each side toward the center. I like the tight look.
Our new television is wonderful for our old eyes.
I can see the stats of the baseball game in the corner of the screen now.
October 'Fall Abundance'
Without the reflection of the mirror my photographs have a new crispness and bright color.
I placed a cornucopia at each end of the mantel and used an abundance of Fall accessories to fill in the center space under the wooden plaque.
Candles and Indian corn are so traditionally Fall.
I will be adding more Thanksgiving decor next month.
Mr and Mrs Pilgrim will be visiting My Cozy Corner in November
 Fruit, Bittersweet and Autumn leaves.

~DIY Ideas~

Hello Everyone,
DIY * DO IT YOURSELF*
I wish I could DIY
One of my oldest and dearest friends and I went to the annual Roses and Rust Craft Show in our area last Saturday.
These photos are just a glimpse of what we saw as we walked around the auditorium.
A little bit of something for everyone.
HALLOWEEN
Little fairy gardens
I love roses and I love the roses made from used dress patterns.
Oh, I wish I had the trio to plant my paper whites in for Christmas
This wine and cheese tray is perfect to use on a porch or patio
My friend insisted on taking my picture.  Check out the goodies on the table. I had the same Halloween candy bucket when I was 10 years old. A long.... time ago.
Oh! How cute is this? I have a passion for pillows recently.
Now we are getting down to some serious DIY pumpkins.
I love the different fabrics used for the beautiful pumpkins.
This one is my favorite
More fabulous stuff outside on the patio.
Thanks for visiting My Cozy Corner
