November is Gratitude Month

Hello everyone,

November is gratitude month. Every day on Facebook I post what

I am grateful for. It is one the most rewarding ways to see

what is important to me in my life every day.  My family always tops

the list. Friends are on the gratitude list too.  

Gratitude has not always been natural for me to recognize.
 For years I was looking for something. More money, better home, better job.
 Today, in my opinion, seeking material things was a waste of time. I can say that today. 
At 76 years old, I want to savor every moment of the days I have remaining on this earth. 

Being in the state of gratitude keeps me in the now.  I live day by day. 

I move with ease through the day. Taking care of my emotional well being.

Enjoy my hobbies, planning healthy meals and feeling my best on a daily basis. 

Gratitude helps me see a situation in a way that lessens panic and opens up my
thinking to new solutions.

Every night as I rest in bed, I review my day and give thanks

for the blessings, I have received during the day.

Prayer and Meditation bring positive thoughts into

my brain before sleeping. 

Gratitude brings our mind from the negative to the positive.

We will be celebrating Thanksgiving.

Our country will celebrate gratitude for a free country.

Fall Mantel Before and After

Hi everyone,

I've been slow posting this past couple of weeks. 

Hubby and I attended our son's wedding in September 

and took a little vacation to where my father was born in 1917.

We stopped in Laughlin Nev. and then we drove to

Oatman AZ.  Go Here to see the ghost town.

All I can say is that the experience was a hoot.

Before I left for our trip, I did my fall decorating. 

I bought new pillows for the sofa and 

decorated the mantel for fall.

This summer was so busy I didn't have a chance to 

share my summer mantel.  I love my plates and birds.

Now it's time for fall, and I love this year's look.

I finally found some pumpkin plates at TJMaxx.

I wanted to keep the mantel simple.  The orange 

and different shades of autumn colors enhance

the color my brick fireplace. 

Decorating my mantel is always a joy.  I love the 

beautiful velvet pumpkin. Soft and colorful

is perfect for my simple look.

Last year I bought the jar jewelry for my mason jars.

I stored them away in my stash and this year I 

fluffed them up a bit and sat them on the mantel.

October is going to be a busy one for this old lady.
Next week I will be entertaining my church
Altar Guild for tea and my sweet sister
is coming for a visit too. Sister Time.

Mantels to Centerpieces!!!

Hello everyone,

I'm so happy to be here today to share a few ideas with you about 

Thanksgiving mantels, I was thinking you could use these ideas for a 

Thanksgiving table centerpiece too. When I was looking back at these mantels 

I noticed I have a theme each year and I create small vignettes on 

my long mantel.  The top mosaic is called Fall Abundance.  The cornucopia 

is overflowing with fruit. The different photos could be used as individual centerpieces.

In our home we have beautiful wildlife art work. Our son carved a wooden duck decoy and I love to collect plates. Fall colors look wonderful in our living room and I try to use our favorite family mementos when decorating our mantel. 

Pumpkins and Turkey plates are the theme for this mantel. The little squirrels
and a plate with a pumpkin is a nice vignette or centerpiece.

This year I created a mantel with simple canning jars and jar jewelry. 

My vintage plate and plenty of wildlife feathers are adding some colorful interest and texture to the mantel.

Thanksgiving table centerpiece.

Autumn Vignettes

Hello everyone,

Life is good today. The weather is cooling off and we are 

expecting some rain in the next few days.

I have my fall mantel dressed for the season. And I wanted 

to share my

 JAR JEWELRY 

The burlap flower is from Walmart and I found the fall foliage the same day.

The mason jars are from my garage and I found some feathers and moss
in my stash. The beautiful plate was a gift from a dear friend.

This brass basket is a keeper. I found the basket at the thrift store 

for $5.00 dollars.  I knew I was going to hang it over the mantel
 as soon as I saw it. 

On the coffee table I have my favorite velvet pumpkins with a 

a floral centerpiece. 

'Pillow Love'

The velvet pumpkins are sitting inside my mom's vintage McCoy pottery bowl.

On the end table I have a little cloche with a little pumpkin.

I love my cloche and I love my new brown sofa...It is a 

wonderful background for taking photos of my vignette

on the coffee table.

Jan Karon's Mitford Cookbook and Kitchen Reader.

My Cozy Corner is dressed for Fall. Comfy and Warm.

We are waiting for the first cold night to start a fire in

the fireplace.

Autumn Magic

Hello Everyone,
Happy November!  I love November.  The trees are the most beautiful and the wonderful holiday of Thanksgiving is so special to me.
During the month of November I try to remember to be grateful each day.  Gratitude means different things to different people. I love the word Gratitude...
According to Wikipedia  HERE  Gratitude is thankfulness, gratefulness, or appreciation
I prefer the Empirical findings. Association with well-being. Every day for 30 days during November I try to write what I am grateful for on that day.
Truly amazing and wonderful.
Autumn Magic is in the air.  A different look to my mantel this year. Matching plates and pumpkins with a little playfulness with the cute squirrels .  

The plate was used in a Thanksgiving tablescape HERE

Last year I fell in love with all the beautiful velvet pumpkins I saw DIYers make and I wanted to make some for myself. I didn't get the project finished last year so a few weeks ago I was in Safeway grocery store and lo and behold they had the most beautiful velvet pumpkins for a great price. I bought three for myself and one as a birthday gift for my dear friend Pat W.  I was so grateful I didn't have to make them. LOL!!!

Some wonderful things are happening around My Cozy Corner. I will share with you in a few days.

The weather is beautiful here in Northern California today. This weekend the temps are going to be in the low  80's and I plan to work in the patio moving the the fern grotto into a safer place for the winter. We do have a frost or two and the beautiful ferns will be history if I don't protect them.

The Fall 

September~October~November

Hello everyone, 

November is the month dedicated to counting our blessings. I've been truly blessed with an amazing and loving husband for 53 years. My children are successful in their work and are wonderful parents to my six fabulous granddaughters. 

My retirement past time is blogging. I love sharing my retirement journey with my family, friends, followers and new visitors. 

This year has been filled with life lessons. The most important lesson I've  learned is to be gentle to myself. As I age I find my energy level has diminished. While decorating my living room mantel in September with fall decor,  I decided to decorate with a fall theme and three main elements. Then each month change the accessories to embellish the Holiday for the month.

This month is all about Thanksgiving and Gratitude
November 

The mantel illustrates the meaning of Thanksgiving.
The cornucopia overflowing with fruit, Autumn leaves, bittersweet and caramel candles with a little amber turkey and deer sheds.  

'My Little Flowers' vase is transformed with Autumn leaves and bittersweet.

The tea cart is decorated with my cloche and a wooden box from a yard sale. The fellow at the yard sale gave me the walnuts for free...  

The turkeys found my forest in the cloche and decided to stay awhile. 

I have my mother's McCoy bowl filled with pine cones and some berries. The bowl would be sitting on my mother's dining room table filled with lemons from her lemon tree.

My latest most favorite thing is iron on transfers. I bought  a 6' x 9' drop cloth at Walmart and made a pillow cover, then ironed on this transfer.

Mr Crow found his way into my cloche. LOL 

Simple additions have created three different mantels for three months.
Now I have more energy to decorate my Christmas mantel.
