Winter White Tea Time

Hello everyone,
Today is Monday, February 15th.
Did you have a lovely Valentine's Day?
Sweetheart and I had a wonderful Valentine's Day.
We worked in our garden in the afternoon.
I received a beautiful card and a bouquet of roses.
Sweetheart cooked an amazing Lobster dinner
and we watched Downton Abbey my favorite series.
I love Valentine's Day.
Now it's time to share with you my
Winter White Tea Time

Last year while on a trip to the coast for our Wedding Anniversary
I bought my knitted tea cozy. When we were vacationing in Quebec, Canada
I found the darling knitted hat in a shop at the Hotel Chateau Frontenac.
I love the cable stitch on my tea cozy and hat, so I wanted to have a cup cozy with cable stitch too.
I found a pattern on the Internet with the knitted cable stitch.
I got busy and knitted this precious cup cozy
with a vintage button closure.
To add to the sparkle of my Winter White tea I baked some cupcakes.
Sparkles on the top of the cupcakes remind me of glistening snow.
I found a knitted cable stitch plate at Michaels Craft store
on clearance for a dollar. I couldn't pass it up.
My tea table is ready to enjoy  Winter White Tea Time
I found a beautiful cable knitted scarf at T. J. Maxx and
the little white gloves I found at Joann's fabric store for a dollar.
The sun was shining in the window on my Winter White Tea Time.
I also found two cable knitted pillows at K Mart to
put in my wicker chairs.  Another cozy spot to sit on a
winter day...Looking out to the garden and dreaming of
the beautiful spring weather we will be enjoying this
time next month.

Hope you enjoyed visiting My Cozy Corner
I love drinking a cup of tea and eating a treat in the afternoon.

Scottish Tea Cozy

Hello everyone,
Wow, these weeks just fly by. While sweetheart and I were on our trip to the coast I found a wonderful shop in old town Eureka. The shop sells beautiful clothes from Scotland and Ireland and other specialty items. I was so excited when I spotted this adorable tea cozy. I love going on trips and finding  wonderful things that I can enjoy long after our trips are just a memory.
I also found a tea towel with four different symbols representing Scotland's heritage.
The Lion Rampant is referred to as the 'Royal Flag of Scotland'
I set the tea table with some shortbread, fruitcake and raspberry filled cookies from Tuesday Morning.
Celtic Cross
A Scottish tea cup
My Thistle tea cup is such a traditional symbol of Scotland
The Thistle is the National Emblem of Scotland
T
The bagpiper of Scotland
I picked my zinnias and blue delphinium for this bouquet.
I love my flowers...Even when the weather is so hot outside you could fry and egg on the sidewalk the little darlings just keep blooming. I think this photo looks like a watercolor.

The white tea cozy is made of wool and the pom-pom on top reminds me of the pom-pom on the top of my Scottish tam. The beautiful cable design is amazing.

Thanks for visiting today. I hope you have a wonderful week.
Joyously,
Betty

Tablescape # 50 A Tea Cozy from England

Hello everyone, I hope you are having a great week. I'm doing wonderfully. August is here.
We have had great weather all summer, but this week it's been in the triple digits.  I was outside early this morning to photograph this post. I started shooting  in the sun and ended the shoot in the shade. It was HOT!
Last year while in England I bought this adorable strawberry tea cozy at an outdoor market place.
I found it at the  Whickham Cottage Crafts booth in Durham, England..
Do you think I'm crazy showing off my tea cozy in the middle of the summer? I think I'm crazy! My post vision was to  put fresh strawberries in the post, but every time I had some strawberries for the post, sweetheart and I would eat them up.
So here is the cutest tea cozy at My Cozy Corner in the summer sun.

The Black-Eyed-Susan's are blooming up a storm.
The vintage table cloth I've had for awhile, and my vintage snack sets have been around since the early 60's.
During the 60's and 70's I would host family gathering, bridal showers and baby showers a lot and the snack sets were so wonderful to use for buffets. I have six sets of four, and
I still use them today for tea parties and family get-togethers.

The tea cozy is covered with yellow seeds and the big strawberry on top.
I used my red tea pot, but I think a bright yellow tea pot would be fun also.

The knitted green top is amazing.  And the beads for seeds are so cute.

My sunflowers are going to be blooming next week, and the little lantern is lite in the evenings
for an added glow to our patio area during the summer months.
I found some vintage flatware at GW and the matching napkins I made years ago.

Bright and Sunny

There's always something to eat with a cup of tea.
I found this Lemon-Poppy Seed Zucchini Bread recipe in the
August issue of Southern Living 2012
Last night I put ice cream, strawberries and whipped cream on this bread. It was a delicious treat.
Our garden is overflowing with zucchini and this recipe was a
nice change from the traditional zucchini bread recipes I usually bake.

Now we're in the shade.  Thank Goodness!!!

The vintage tablecloth has an embroidered strawberry pattern and motif around the edges.
Some loving hands have touched this tablecloth and now I'm the proud owner of it.

Lot's of summer yellow in the garden this time of year.

The rose is called Summer Kiss and I love my lavender Butter-Fly bush in the background

Can you see my tea cozy just waiting for me to buy it?
This was the cutest booth.

Thank  you for visiting My Cozy Corner today.
I hope you have enjoyed my little treasures that I dearly love.
I'm joining some fun parties, so hop over and see what's up.

KNITTING

Hello Everyone!

Knitting

Long ago (1961) I taught myself to knit. ( Oh! and I'm left handed) I didn't realize at the time that I was doing rather well for a self taught knitter. As my daughter reminded me today. Mom~ you knitted me so many sweaters.  She finally wanted to have a sweater that was bought from the store.  And so my knitting days came to an end.  Of course I also started working after staying home for 20 years and raising teenage children was enough to keep me out of the craft room.

I have a specific project to knit.
In 1964 I lived next door to a couple from England.  Everyday my friend and I would have a pot of tea.  She had the most beautiful tea cozy.  Her mother in England had knitted her tea cozy and I admired it so much my friend had her mother knit me one.

But being a young American girl I didn't know the tea cozy was made from WOOL
And I washed it.  Now it's very much smaller than when I received it as a gift 47 years ago.

The little flowers on the top of the tea cozy were absolutely fabulous.  And after all these years I would like to replicate the tea cozy from long ago. I'm not sure what the pattern is called, but I found a similar pattern on the Internet and my knitting instructor is assisting me with relearning how to knit.  Some of the knitting terms have changed and the knitting needles have changed.  But the joy of knitting has not changed.

I have chosen this wool yarn and I'm learning how to knit on two circular needles.

This old vintage sewing basket has been around a long time too.  I had two baskets but one of my granddaughters has taken one home to use for her sewing projects and this basket is waiting until the other granddaughter is ready to sew or knit.

The top of the box is so much fun to study. With the tomato pin cushion, big spools of thread and vintage fabric.

The detail on the basket is great too.

The cords on the basket are still in wonderful condition and the basket is perfect to hold extra yarn for some of those little flowers I will be learning how to make.

The sewing bag is what I use to take to my knitting class.  It's roomy and has carried several knitting projects over the years.

Thank you for visiting My Cozy Corner.
see you soon
