Happy Mother's Day to My Mom

Hello Everyone,
I'm so happy you came to visit My Cozy Corner. As you remember my mother just turned 90 years old in March 2011. What do you buy someone 90 years old?  I decided I would give my mom a few hand made presents for the upcoming Mother's Day.  Because I live about 250 miles away from my mother I visit about every two months and try to call her every Sunday afternoon. My sister is my mother's primary caregiver. She and her husband are now on vacation for two weeks in Hawaii. When they are away I try to plan my visits to my mother's house. When I'm with my mother we visit  about family. We watch television together. I cook for her and usually take her for a ride in the car. She is unable to travel so I try to bring the joys of my home to her.  Pictures of my garden, and this trip I'm  bringing blueberry-buttermilk scones the best ever lemon curd and shortbread cookies. I stay at my sister's home (it's just like a B & B) and I try to do some shopping while I'm in a larger city. Especially clothes for my upcoming trip to England and Scotland.

I would like to thank Candy at The Little Round Table for this wonderful Tussie-Mussies craft.

The pansies are blooming and the chives were going to bloom so I picked the blossoms off.  A little Ivy and a vintage vase is so wonderful to enjoy the small pleasures of the day.

I must admit that I am so busy now that I have retired I don't know how I worked for so many years.  Another new hobby I love is knitting.  I have been knitting dishcloths for about two months.  I want to write a post about the darlings, but I keep giving them away as gifts. Just like this one.  I made the dishcloth out of
100 %  cotton yarn and I found this beautiful prayer on the Internet that I include each time I give one away.

A handmade card with a photograph of the 'Pink Perfection' Camellia from my garden and 'Godiva' Dark chocolate candy is always appreciated.

What a joy it was to make this fun Tussie-Mussie~
I'm making one for my sister and my daughter too.

Body Lotion for my mother's aging skin.  At 90 years old, her skin is just amazing.

It's always a pleasure to share my life and projects with everyone

Rain or Shine

Hello Everyone,
Blessed indeed!! This is yesterday, Easter.  While the girls were hunting eggs I was photographing the progress of the garden in just one week.
Today is Monday and it's raining and even some hail came down.

Last week the poppies were closed, but today they are open
and the sun is shining on the pansies reflecting a beautiful light shade of violet.

Oh my gosh I have bugs eating my artichokes before I get a chance to have a bite.

I love the 'California Poppy' our state flower.

Nothing beautiful lasts long enough.
This I know for sure.
Thank goodness for DSLR

Welcome to my 7th Cupcake Sunday

What fun to have A Party on Easter Sunday.

I have a guest photographer for this Cupcake Sunday.

Photograph #1
While I was decorating the Chocolate Cupcakes my sixteen year old granddaughter was photographing my frosting technique.

I have been so blessed this week.  My mother sent this adorable bunny floral arrangement with a beautiful message.

Thank you for all the love and care this past year
Happy Easter
Love, Mother.
(She turned 90 years old on March 14th 2011)

Photograph #2 from the artist in the family.  Great composition

Today I was in the grocery store and found this cupcake stand that looks very much like the adorable bouquet my mother just sent me.  It's just Amazing?

I found the adorable cutters at a garage sale and they are so perfect for spring and for Easter.  I love using marzipan to color and cut the precious little decorations.

Photograph #3
She is taking a photography class in high school and just received an A for outstanding work in the class.

The cream cheese frosting is so yummy!

Tablescape # 26

Easter Brunch~Very Casual

I love to try new ideas.  Paper Plates and Paper Cups plus Paper Napkins.  Can I do this for my Easter Tablescape?  Yes! And it was so much fun too.  Does your family say "Don't go to so much work?" Well this year I did just that. I purchased paper products for brunch and for dessert. Actually it's looks very festive.  As they say "be careful what you wish for."  No dishes, but plenty of cooking for this old Grandma... LOL!

Now, lets have some fun looking at the Fanciful Easter decor.

I have the Granddaughter's little chick favors set by each place setting. And a bright yellow cup for Pink Lemonade.

If Sunday's weather is nice and sunny I would love to move our Easter Brunch to the Patio.  We have plenty of seating for everyone and it will be so refreshing to be outside after such a long winter.

Candy and Colored Eggs...
Mrs. Bunny is ready to hide the eggs.

Well, hello Mr. Bunny. I see some delicious candy and some colored eggs.
Mrs. Bunny is waiting for you to help her hide the Easter eggs for the Granddaughters.

I decided to bring the Three Tulips (Here) in from the garden and  picked the prettiest Iris and some fresh fern to use as a floral centerpiece.

Miss Bunny Radish is a salt shaker and she is so Cute....

This place setting is by 'Party Plates' very inexpensive.  Flatware is used outside all summer.

Mr. Bunny Carrot is a pepper shaker and he's so Cute...

I absolutely love flowers.  I look at each kind of flower and I'm never able to pick a favorite.  Flowers are truly Amazing~

Easter Color ~ In the Garden

Hello Everyone,
Thankfully we are going to have beautiful weather in Northern California for Easter morning.

Four Granddaughters will be hunting eggs in the yard this year.
and
Easter Brunch will follow the hunt.

My garden is starting to show off a bit...

I love the pink tulips~Just Three

I planted the three tulips in a barrel last fall and a few days ago I transplanted them into this smaller pot and placed them under the bird bath.

'Three Pink Tulips'

I took this photo around five in the afternoon and the poppies had started to close up for the evening.

I love Bearded Iris and this deep purple is my favorite.

Several blooms are still not open and that is great.  More time to enjoy them.
The Climbing Don Juan is starting up the fence.  The leaves are so beautiful on Don Juan. Glossy and Dark and mysterious.

'Sweet Angel'

I love to have some white in the garden.

The Pineapple is a sign of Friendship

The 'Lenten Rose' has been in a large container for months.  It was finally planted under the Pomegranate tree. With the other Helleborous

 'Coral Bells'
