Winter Mantel with Buffalo Print Plates

Hello everyone,
We are continuing our tour of My Cozy Corner.
January is whisking by and I want to move into the living room for a look
at the mantel decorated for the Winter months... The last time you
stopped by I shared with you my favorite room.  Go Here.
Our living room is where we live most of time.
Our home has four bedrooms and two baths.
We have a large country kitchen and dining room combination
with windows to see all the outside acitivity.
Now that El Nino has hit Northern California it has been raining for
most of January. We are enjoying watching the football playoffs
and of course Downton Abby on Sunday night.
Now to share my Winter Mantel.
During 2015 I used decorative plates on my mantel.
During Christmas I had a pair of adorable deer plates on the mantel Go Here
I am going to continue the decorative plate theme this year.
I plan to have these red and black buffalo print plates until March.
I think they will work for the month of February.
The red ribbon on the wreath and the red bands
around the fir trees looks very festive.
WISHES OR DREAMS?
I dream about taking a trip and dream about the summer garden.
I wish my family and friends good health, happiness  and prosperity.
Today I am so blessed to have a wonderful hobby of blogging.
The boxwood wreath is my January wreath. I added a new red bow this year.
About a week after Christmas I went shopping and found some great deals.
All the holiday things were on sale at Pier 1.
I found two faux fir trees in the cans for 50% off.
The buffalo plates were on sale at Rite Aid for $2.00 dollars each.
I love when I have an idea and it falls into place.
I have some vignettes and pillows to share
with you in a few days.  I hope you come back
and see my cute pillow I received as a gift
from my granddaughters.  They helped G'pa buy gifts this year.
 I scored.

Boxwood Wreath Addition

Hello everyone,
Where did February go?  I finished decorating the Winter Mantel and I'm GREEN with envy when I see a preserved Boxwood wreath hanging in a beautiful place on the beautiful blogs. I looked on-line, but they were expensive. And I found one at a local department store.  I really wanted a square preserved boxwood wreath, but all I found were round wreaths, and they had a funny odor☺
Then I was shopping in Tuesday Morning a couple of weeks ago and found this faux SQUARE Boxwood wreath. Yay!!!♥
I love the way it looks on the fireplace...The little sprigs of real boxwood I stole from our neighbor in my four little vases is just perfect.

Winter Mantel

Hi everyone,
January disappeared!  I'm looking forward to sunny days. My daffodils are about an inch out of the ground and all the roses have little buds sprouting on the branches.
I've finally finished decorating my Winter mantel and I love the Pine Cones and Boxwood. Remember the Petites Fleurs in my Fall Mantel? HERE
I'm so happy to see Brass decor coming back in style. When we did our last remodel to our home in 1990 I purchased brass candlestick holders and brass lamps. (Very expensive) and I love the look of brass in our living room. I broke one of the original glass hurricane candlestick shades, so I replaced both this last year. The cloches are an integral part of my mantel design and I love old books too.  Go Here for last year's Winter mantel
I bought the Partridge and the Pear Tree at Pottery Barn in Pasadena while on vacation this past Fall. We don't have a Pottery Barn close, I would have to go to Sacramento to a Pottery Barn there. When I saw the salt and pepper shakers, I knew it was love at first sight. As the designers say~Buy what you love! I do♥
I love my apothecary jars and I found the glittered pine cones at Safeway on sale after Christmas. I knew I would get some mileage out of the darling glittery pine cones this winter and during next Fall and Christmas season.
Always so much inspiration on blogs and pinterest on how to decorate a mantel. In 2014 my goal is to be more thrifty and shop my home. I'm running out of storage room and as I age I have less energy to move things around frequently. I would love to have this look for a few months at least.
My project the next few weeks is to finish cleaning my craft room and work in my garden and getting it ready for our tour in May. As bloggers know time flies when having fun and my life just is going by way to fast.
Thanks for visiting My Cozy Corner

Winter Re-Do~Before and After

Hello Everyone,
February has arrived and things are going swimming @ My Cozy Corner. I've had the Winter mantel up for awhile and I've been working in the garden the past few weeks.  During the month of January I was busy posting my Blue and White showcase. We are planning to remodel the kitchen and dining room so I'm packing all the dishes away in tubs. We are going to start the project a couple of weeks...
The Blue and White dishes are all packed and now the Pink and White are next to pack.
Where did 2012 go? I look back at the three mantels in this mosaic and can't believe how time flies.
They say as you get older time goes faster.  Well I think I have been in a jet liner.

Sharing my Winter Re-Do
My favorite cloche is always center stage. A cloche within a cloche.
After Christmas and the decorations were packed away. Sweetheart and I decided to make more room for folks to walk around and sit on the sofa. We removed the large~long coffee table and replaced it with a vintage tea table I was using as a night stand in the guest bedroom.
It rolls and easily moved if we have guests and more room to put wood into the fireplace on these cold Wintry nights.
On the Tea Table I have a vintage basket that my mother used for buttons and a bowl of healthy mixed nuts. The wood carved duck was a gift from our son. He carved it in 8th grade as a school project.  The books are from my  father's library.  And the throw is for anyone to cuddle up by the fireplace and stay warm. As you can see I have a few throws around. Everyone wants a throw!!!
The inspiration for this Winter mantel came from a photo in the Pottery Barn magazine.
I had all the elements around the house and garden for the mantel, so it was fun and easy to put together.
I painted the GW birds white. They were multi-colored and I love the crisp white look of them now.
I used a couple of cloches for birds and pine cones.
.
A few twigs and pine cones from the garden and a mercury glass vase from TM.
Yes---I painted my brass candle holders black. A couple of years ago.
White craft paint is just amazing. It covers so well and dries fast. I love my white birds.
I was thrilled to find 'The Arabian Nights' and 'Admiral Hornblower in the West Indies' in my dad's library.
Another find was The Complete Short Stories and Famous Essays of MARK TWAIN.
I also found a original publisher's red cloth complete in one volume with tanning pages of  'Les Miserables' by Victor Hugo, translated from the original french by Lascelles Wraxall and additions by Charles E Wilbour. Complete in one volume.

A big thank you to my new followers.
I hope you have enjoyed your visit.
