Getting Ready for Thanksgiving

Hello everyone,
I hope your week is going okay!  I'm finishing up my projects for the
Church Bazaar on Saturday. I did have a couple of days last week to
decorate my living room with a Thanksgiving vignette.
Mr. and Mrs. Pilgrim visit our home every year at this time.
I'm getting ready for our Thanksgiving weekend with the family. I have a large dresser in the dining room that holds tablecloths, tea towels, baskets and trays. This year I placed the dinner plates, dessert plates and glassware on top. I bought paper dinner napkins with a turkey on them.  They match the salt and pepper shakers and the dessert napkins.
Our family will arrive on Wednesday and we are planning to serve Hot Roast Beef dip sandwiches for 10 people in the evening.  Thursday we set the tables for 16 and enjoy a Turkey and Ham dinner. We love leftovers.
Friday I have a sleepover with four of my granddaughters.  They want me to take them to the mall.  The girls and I are meeting Sweetheart and my oldest son and his friend for pizza before we SPEND ALL GRANDMA'S MONEY
I decorated my cabinet that holds my white ware
with a few pumpkins here and there.
Our flat screen television is sitting on the shelf below.
As my family gather together to celebrate the precious gift of freedom and abundance I wanted to share with you a little pillow I made from a tea towel. I found the tea towel at Aaron Brothers Art and Framing store for eight dollars.
A vignette on a plant stand...I love to see the sunlight coming in the
window in the afternoon and reflecting the rays in my
French Country dining room.
Thank you for visiting and please come back soon.

Joyously,
Betty

♥Summer Refreshments♥

Hello everyone,
I hope you all had a nice weekend. We have had a hot spell here this week. I've been in the house tweaking the living room and master bedroom and I finally bit the bullet and when outside to photograph my other birthday gift to myself. A little bistro table and chairs. I have wanted a metal bistro table and chairs for years. I found this one at Big Lots. Now I can leave this table and chairs out all year long. No more moving outdoor furniture for me.
Since my new bistro set is sitting under the pomegranate tree, I decided to make some pomegranate punch and sit down for a few minutes to look at my new English Home magazine. Every year we pick the pomegranates and sweetheart squeezes the juice and we freeze it for jelly and punch. Go Here to see the process.
Can you see my Drop in the Bucket decoration? I received the darling gift from my daughter and family Go Here
While I was at the thrift shop I bought the flower vase. The blue trim and pink flowers are  similar to the Simplicity roses on the vase. I never seem to have enough vases. The galvanized tray I found at Wal Mart and I know I will get alot of use out of it this summer.

Pomegranate Punch is so delicious.
1 package of Crystal Light Pink Lemonade
6 cups of Pomegranate juice (fresh or POM)
2 cups of sparkling water.
adjust to taste. No Sugar added.
A very refreshing summer drink.
Life is simple and fresh @ My Cozy Corner
Thanks for visiting today. I hope you enjoyed the garden and stopped to smell the roses.
Joyously,
Betty

Garden Anticipation

Hello sweet friends,
I'm busy preparing for a yard sale next weekend and preparing our taxes for the accountant. Two crazy awful jobs, but I do have the wonderful, delightful job of preparing for my spring garden.  I was shopping at Walmart and found some seeds and bare root roses. The 1st of March I plan to be playing in my garden and greenhouse Go Here.
I picked my daffodils from the garden because I was afraid they would be blown to bits if we have another storm.  I think I will plant more yellow daffodils this fall. I purchased a hundred mixed bulbs in the fall of 2013 so it's time to plant another hundred or so. I buy the bulbs from 'White Flower Farm' and they are a fabulous bargain.
I have a variety of annuals and perennial seeds to start.
I also have a new pair of garden gloves and pruning shears I received as a Christmas gift. The glass jars have some seeds I harvested from my hollyhocks and foxgloves last year. I need to get them in the 36 cell seed starter soon.
My straw hat with a little yellow ribbon is ready for me to wear out in the garden. I put everything together on my table to take out to the greenhouse and it turned into a tablescape or vignette.  Don't you love it when there is a photo moment in everything we do. Oh my goodness I even have my work boots
waiting for me.

The little wooden handled box is perfect to carry my goodies to the greenhouse.
I have some seed starter mix and some white peonies and new dutch iris tiger eyes to plant. Cherish and Patchwork are my new bare root roses. I have a rose bucket list and I'm waiting until the rose bushes in the pots are available and I would like to buy Hot Cocoa and another David Austin The Squire
I went to the Dollar Tree and picked up this box of zinnias.
Daffodils from my garden in the watering can. I have the February Garden Journal post to write tomorrow and you will have a better look at the garden before it's in full bloom. The Rose society says my garden has "good bones" and I'm very proud of having good bones. LOL.
A little recap:
We are having some blue bird weather here in California this week, but we will be getting more stormy weather in a few weeks. Winter isn't over for another six weeks. Well, I must get busy and take care of business.
Joyously,
Betty

Vignetts~DIY Trees

Hello everyone,
Christmas is only a few days away and I've finished wrapping the gifts. With the dark days I haven't taken the photos of the dining room yet, but we are getting more rain fall than average in Northern California this month and it's wonderful. Yay!!!
I made two  DIY Christmas Trees from Styrofoam  cones wrapped in burlap fringe.  When I bought the ornaments for my banner HERE I had a few ornaments leftover to use as a tree decoration  and a small ornament for the every top. The little church changes colors. Red, Blue and Green... You can see the church on my sidebar with the ice skating rink and ice skaters skating in front.
I have my advent angel chimes on this table top all year round. The Christmas ornaments are some of my favorites and the vintage apothecary crystal jar was my mother's favorite candy dish. She would put sour gum drops in the jar and every time she would have company they were welcome to enjoy a gum drop or two. I love the look of the gold ornaments sparkle in the crystal jar.
A little peek at my new sofa.  I love the brown fabric and style of the sofa. The table top vignette fits a cozy, rustic and woodsy Christmassy living room.  A cloche of ornaments, mixed nuts and a few pine cones with a nativity scene to remember the reason for the season.
Last Christmas I received the Joy to the World tea towel. I decided to cove a pillow and add it to my sofa decor.

Thanks for visiting and see you soon.
Joyously,
Betty

"Goodbye" Old Sofa

Hello everyone,
Today I am saying "Goodbye" to my old sofa and love seat. Now don't laugh...We have owned this sofa and love seat since 1991. The back story is: Our daughter had just married and we were remodeling our entire home. The sofa, love seat and two recliner rockers were all purchased at the same time. Now twenty some years later it's time to buy new carpeting for our living room. And we wanted to buy two new matching recliners for our old bones and bad backs. After all the old recliners were over 20 years old. Who keeps furniture that long? We do!!!
This post is written to document the way our home has looked for over twenty years and also to show you our new sofa and chairs.
I took this photo below with my 18-55 lens. I would love some suggestions about a different lens to use for this type of photo.
The love seat has a new pillow I made to celebrate the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday. I found the Gather Together tea towel at Aaron Brothers for $8.00. I bought a small pillow at Jo Ann's craft store and sewed an envelope slip cover in about 10 minutes. I love it.
We are not replacing the love seat, and the tables will be placed in front of our new sofa. I have a beautiful sofa table behind the love seat that I'm excited to see decorated for Christmas.
I made this mosaic with our new sofa and chairs. We had the new recliners delivered the same day we purchased them, but the sofa will be delivered in two weeks. I put the sofa and love seat on Craigslist and ONE HOUR LATER I had it sold. Now we have a large empty living room for a week or so.

Thanks for visiting and hope you have a great week.
Joyously,
Betty

One Pumpkin-Two Mums

Hi everyone,
Hope your weekend is going swimmingly. I am having a great weekend. Cleaning out my closet. I have three containers, one for consignment, one for Goodwill and one for a future yard sale. Over the last four years of blogging my focus has moved to more simple posts. Since I'm almost 74 years old I just can't schlep things around like I could four years ago. I love table top vignettes and garden photos. My white Bistro set is a perfect place to add some fall color.
September-A Fall Picnic (Before)
October is here and I went shopping for One Pumpkin for $4.88 at Walmart and Two Mums at Walmart for under eight dollars.
They are going to be playing double duty during this fall season.
Late November the mums will be planted out in the garden for some beautiful color next year.
While out thrifting the other day I bought a plastic bag of faux pumpkins for $3.00. I love the brown grape vine pumpkins so much.

(After)

I love this pumpkin and who doesn't like an old basket and a terracotta pot!

I have some baking to do this afternoon and work on another kneeler, so I'm off to play in the closet and take a few more photos.

Thanks for visiting and hope you enjoy your weekend.
Joyously,
Betty
