Breast Cancer Awareness ~ A Pink Cake

Hello Everyone,
I'm joining Beverly for Pink Saturday.

My cake decorating class was finished on Thursday evening.
For the final exam we had to make flowers and write on our cake.

I decided to make Pink Roses. And I printed Blog on the top of my cake because I love to blog.
Also it's October and Breast Cancer Awareness month. This post is a tribute to the research and development of a cure for the most deadly disease....CANCER OF ANY KIND.

I had a great time learning the techniques of cake decorating.  Making several different shades of pink was fun.  Of course my kitchen looked like a bomb went off with all the powdered sugar flying out of the Kitchen Aid mixer while it's going full speed ahead. LOL.

I know the printing is not perfect. But I enjoyed myself and now when I make cupcakes I can add a little more interest to them.

I used a #12 tip and a #104 filled with stiff consistency buttercream icing. This rose looks very different in the instruction book.  (Ribbon Rose)
I like my ruffly rose just fine....

The garden has a few interesting pink flowers still blooming.  The Pink Simplicity Rose and Dark Pink Zinnias made a lovely bouquet to accompany my decorated cake display.

Different shades of Pink decorate the side of cake.  Tip #12 and #10 round.

I have been photographing my flowers and using the images as greeting cards this past year.  I think this photo is going to be sent to my sweet mother who has loved roses all of her 90 years.

Cake decorating takes practice to look professional.  I think I will stay with my amateur status.

The little green leaves are fun to make.  Tip #352 with thin consistency frosting made the pastel green leaves.

Thank you  so much for indulging me with my learning experience of Cake Decorating.
There are so many wonderful things to experience.
Thanks for visiting My Cozy Corner
and
Please come back soon.

I Decorated a Cake!

Hello Everyone,
Good Morning it's TGIF.  Last night I took my second cake decorating class.  Of course you know I love Cupcakes!!!
This is my first attempt at decorating a cake with decorating TIPS.  I love them.
The class is offered at Michaels Craft Store and we are using the Wilton Lesson Plan.
 'Decorating Basics'

The icing is a class Butter cream Icing.

I transferred the cupcake pattern to the cake top using piping gel. Then I used a tip 12 and yellow icing for the cupcake.

Using a tip 3 and yellow icing to pipe curving lines on the baking cup.  I used tip 12 and white icing to pipe swirls on the cupcake top. Using a tip 12 and pink icing to pipe the decoration on the top of the cupcake. The bead bottom I  used tip 12 and white icing.
The directions recommend confetti sprinkles to top of cupcake and sides of cake, but I used up the remaining frosting. ~ THRIFTY ME~

I'm so happy I finally took this class.  The decorating tools are so important and to have a someone personally show me the decorating techniques is awesome.  I am a very visual person.  As you can see by the way I blog.

Life is good today...

I joining some great parties. Please link back to them for more eye candy.
