Traveling Tuesday

Welcome
I hope your weekend was a good one. As you might have guessed by my posts about 'How to Pack One Suitcase; HERE..I was on vacation for two weeks. I live in Northern California and I have never visited New England. As a Daughter of the American Revolution D.A.R. I love the stories of the American Patriots and what they did to free our country. I have wanted to go to Boston for years and throw a tea bag into the Boston Harbor. I wanted to take a cruise from Boston to Quebec, but my husband had a different idea. He wanted to do a road trip. As a compromising wife I agreed.
We flew to Boston and our first historical tour was a visit to the site of the Boston Tea Party in 1773.

On December 16, 1773, after officials in Boston refused to return three shiploads of taxed tea to Britain, a group of colonists boarded the ships and destroyed the tea by throwing it into Boston Harbor. A group of 30 to 130 men boarded the three vessels and dumped all 342 chests of tea into the water. The Boston Tea Party was a key event in the growth of the American Revolution.

The actors at the museum reenact the evening of December 16, 1773

I had my husband snap a photo of me with my BIG TEA BAG.
The young kids on the tour throw the tea chest in the water and then they bring the tea chest back up for photo opportunities.
This fellow was a character. He made jokes and gave up the scoop on the tea party. LOL
After the tour my husband and I had tea at 'Abigail's Tea Room.
This is the tea display in the tea room. I went to the gift shop and bought some tea, a tea bag caddy and a tea towel. Hopefully I will have a tea post up soon.
Meet Ms. Abigail.

Thursday Favorite Things Blog Hop 207

Thursday Favorite Things Blog Hop 207
Welcome ,
Hope you all are enjoying the first day of Fall.
This week I want to share a Fall Tea in the garden. Today I'm using a plaid blanket as my tablecloth and some grapevine wreaths as chargers. The tea cups have some of my favorite wildlife on the front and back. The hurricane lamp was my mama's and the flowers I picked fresh from my garden. Another blanket in case it gets chilly...
Now it's time to get this party started.

Living Room~Before and After

Hello everyone,
Happy September. Some pretty flowers and our Living Room reveal. Back in November 2014 We purchased new living room furniture. In May of 2015 we had our living room painted, bought new carpeting and new sheers for our windows. The old sheers were 25 years old. We still have the same drapes, because they are in perfect condition.
This is our new sofa. I just love the color and fabric.
This is our old sofa and chairs.  I took this photo last fall. Go Here to see the story of our furniture purchase.
This is one end table with our advent candle chime, which I have always had in our living room on an end table year round for over fifty years. The candy dish was my mom's and she always had candy for visitors to enjoy. The old world globe was in our home when I was a child. It has all the old countries of Europe, before they were consolidated by larger more powerful countries.  It  is so interesting to see how the world has changed in the past 75 years.
The sofa looks like leather, but it's not. I wanted a sofa with nail trim. A cloche filled with decorative pieces of wood and natural straw balls.
 I love my Wicker Demijohn...
A little basket on our coffee table with my vintage L.E. Smith amber candy dish with a straw ball and a little ceramic duck.
Nothing expresses the month of the September better than Sunflowers.
What is my style? Comfortable and cozy. I decorate with what I love. I love
wildlife. The vintage duck decoys belonged to my dad. When I was young my dad would go duck hunting every winter and put the duck decoys in the river to attract other ducks. My dad was amazing. He would bring home a limit of ducks every time.
Some pillow  love.
While my granddaughter and I were shopping at K Mart for school supplies
 I spotted this pillow

Thursday Favorite Things Blog Hop 206
Welcome,
Wow! What a great party last week. Thank you all for your support and inspiration. This week I would like to share my Kitchen Icon.  As you enter any French kitchen the first thing you are likely to see is a brightly colored rooster.  My Rooster creates a country feel in my kitchen and adds warmth and comfort too.  No one knows for sure, how the rooster became such a kitchen icon.  When a rooster finds a new food source, he loudly calls for the hens to come running.  This evokes an image of calling your family to the dinner table.  And farm kitchens around the world have been known throughout time for serving hearty meals to hungry farm hands.  Therefore a rooster is a common farm symbol.  The rooster is also a very proud and colorful animal, adding a proud ambiance to a kitchen as well as a splash of color.  If we are proud of our cooking the rooster theme will crow our pride to the world. One of the rooster's main jobs is waking up the farm with his loud crowing at sunrise.  The rooster in my kitchen symbolizes a good morning and a fresh start with a new day.

How to Pack One Suitcase

HOW TO PACK A SUITCASE
Hello everyone,
Today I'm going to pack  my suitcase for my five hour airplane flight to the East Coast.
I have packed my Camera Case GO HERE and I've hung my outfit I'm going to wear for the long flight on the closet door. GO HERE I'm made a packing list of clothes I'm going to be wearing on my three week  or 21 day vacation. We will see how tired I get and when I've eaten enough Lobster. LOL
The yellow sweatshirt, gray top, black jeans and my Sunflower scarf I bought at the British Museum on my trip to England in 2011.
Sea Foam Green♥ I love this color. I bought this top a Macy's on sale. I have a black sleeveless top underneath and black pants...The pair I wore on the airplane. I wear a different pair of pants everyday. I let them air out as you say. I will wear this top in the evening for dinner. Now this is a secret...I sometimes wear it every night. We are going to eat at a different place and nobody knows me anyway.
The Autumn Leaves are falling. Have you guessed where I going yet?
I have blue jeans and white long sleeve cotton top with my fall sweater and a red scarf. How about the little apple on the zipper end. I bought this sweater in 2005 from Gottschalks. I only wear it September, October and November.
Pajamas and robe. Warm and cozy PJ's and a light robe. My sister bought me this cute robe for my birthday in June. Just to take on this trip.
This outfit is just for lounging in the evening after a day of sightseeing. I wear yoga pants and a sweater and a soft sweatshirt in the evening while we watch television or I put this outfit on in the afternoon if we take a rest before going out to dinner. I don't mind taking off my touring clothes for a little while in the afternoon and read a book or play candy crush. Yes!!! I love candy crush. Oh I just remembered that sometimes we have dinner early and then buy ice cream to put in our freezer for a snack later in the evening. I love ice cream too.
I have a light weight jacket for rain or wind. It has a hood and nice roomy pockets. I layer a sweater under the jacket and put on a scarf and I'm good to go.

My suitcase in 24 inches long. 14 inches wide and  14 high when I close the suitcase for the last time.
So lets get started packing this suitcase.
I have a nice clean pair of SAS walking shoes with inserts to prevent my feet from hurting and scarves are inside the shoes. In the zipper I have my sewing kit,  alarm clock and night light.
The pajamas and robe are rolled up over the shoes. red gloves in the corner.
Clear bag contains, blush, liquid makeup, lipstick, eyebrow color, makeup brushes, deodorant  body wash, shampoo, conditioner, toothbrush and toothpaste.  The other clear bag contains card reader, cords for computer, adapter for Canada,2 camera battery chargers, portable USB hub, cellphone charger.
Now we are going to pack more clothes.
sea foam top, mirror, yellow top, red top and black sleeveless top.

The next compartment has, jeans and black yoga pants, yellow sweatshirt, jacket white top, gray top and black top. The net compartment has undies.
The top compartment had my tote bag with socks, black sweatshirt, autumn and gray and black sweater.
