Different Shades of Pink

Hello Everyone,
I'm so excited to share with you new tea cup to me.  While I was visiting my mother after my vacation, she gave me a tea cup for my birthday in June.  It looks very similar to this one, only black and gold. Last week a package arrived in the mail with this beautiful pinkish tea cup and saucer as another birthday gift.
I was so surprised!
To see Birthday post with the other tea cup and saucer  Go Here.

I was inspired by this Pink and White vintage crochet dolly.  I found this dolly at a garage sale.
When growing up in the Santa Clara Valley I was honored to see this kind of handwork
on more occasions than one. The valley had long been influenced with families from Spain, Portugal and the Azores Islands. The women were gifted with the talent to crochet every decorative accessory from dining tablecloths to sofa and armchair covers.  I was most intrigued with this type of dolly.  The women would soak the dolly in pure liquid starch and iron the edges until the dolly would stand stiff and surround the center of the dolly in a beautiful circle. Absolutely amazing.
There were large ones with large ruffles and small ones similar to this one.
I think I will start looking for one of the fine thread dollies and do some starching for myself.

The beautiful 'Barbra Streisand' rose is a 2001 Hybrid Tea-Rich Lavender.  With the heat in our Valley the color is more pink.  The rose does best in cooler climates.  I'm OF with my shade of Pink.

I was so excited when I dropped by GW and was looking for a vase for flowers I found this Mint Julep Cup.  And, as I have followed blogs for awhile I have noticed these beautiful Mint Julep vases and  wished for one for along time. They are expensive at retail stores  and  on eBay that I hadn't bought one yet.  I picked this cup up so fast you would have  thought someone was going to grab it right out of my hand. LOL!  Wishes do come true.

Tablescape #47 Queen's Birthday Tea 2012

Hello Everyone,
Today is a very special day.  June 11, 2012.  Last year on this day I was watching the
Queen of England in a parade celebrating her birthday.  HERE.
Three Ladies Go Traveling spent four days in London seeing the sights.
A trip I will never forget as long as I live.  It was just fabulous.
This year the Queen's birthday celebration is scheduled to be held on Saturday, June 16, 2012.
I hope to be watching.

I love the English Culture
and I love everything about
the British.
As some of you know my mother is English.
And her parents landed in America in 1914.
Do you see the connection?

I wanted to do a tribute to the Queen's Birthday with a Blue and White Tablescape.
The British love Blue and White.
The teapot napkin rings I found at the thrift store.
I don't know if they are vintage or not.
But, they are sure cute.

The Goodwill just opened a store in our community in March.  The first week they were open was heaven.
I found these Blue and White dishes, made in England with the  DENMARK Furnivals
limited trademark on the back  What a deal.

The butter dishes I bought at TM.  Perfect for each person to have their own butter dish.
Scones are baked.
Strawberry jam  and Whipped cream is ready to lather over the warm buttered scones.

A butter knife in the pattern of 'First Love' and each place setting has a small salt and pepper shaker.

Hot tea was served in individual tea pots.
And a selection of English teas from Twinings Tea shop in London is in the tea box...
I brought them home too.

I found a Union Jack Tea Towel in London and packed it away to use for this occasion.
The jug cover is keeping the milk fresh and the the three tiered compote is so English tea~

Surprise!

My two wonderful traveling comrades.

We are celebrating the Queen's Birthday

I love England and I love Scotland
'Don Juan' Red rose climber, white lily  and Blue Shrub Glass
 represent the
The patriotic Red, White and Blue in the Flags.

I was so fortunate to capture this photo of the Queen as she rode by in her carriage  on the way back to
Buckingham  Palace after viewing the 'Trooping The Color'  with Prince Philip sitting by her side.

A moment in time.
I'm walking on the left and my friend is on my right.  Our friend took this memorable photo
of us carrying the Union Jack flag in our backpacks.
After the parade we walked to the palace and then walked to a nearby park and had a picnic lunch.

This and That~Flowers for Everyone~

Hello, Everyone.
Everyday I'm Amazed at the beautiful work of nature.
I was outside with my camera, taking in the beauty and this is the result of nature.
Top photo are 'Coral Bells'

The top photo is 'Yesterday-Today-and-Tomorrow' each day the bloom changes color.
Purple ("yesterday"), Lavender ("today"), white ("tomorrow").
Bottom photo is a bloom from ' Dream Weaver' Rose

This is my Christmas Amaryllis~'Hippeastrum '
I planted it outside and was surprised when the blooms appeared last year.
This year it's doing well and I see another plant next to the first one.  Maybe I will have a group next year.
Blogging is a great way to journal the progress of my garden from one year to the next.

I moved some angels around the garden.
The top photo is early spring
and
the bottom photo is last week.

'Joseph Coat' rose climber is always a hit in my garden.
As the yellow buds expand, the color intensifies to orange; then, with exposure to sunlight, the petals flush with red, until the entire flower is crimson.
A real favorite!

Bearded Iris

The gazing ball is just for fun.
I found this small one at TM and decided it would nice in the birth bath.
Well, that is all for ' This and That'
An English Garden in Northern California. I'm so excited about landscaping my secret garden soon.
The water and electric has been hooked up next to one of the posts, and we are ready to
put the road base on the floor.  It's not easy to plant in the heat of summer, so I will be waiting awhile.
With summer activities with our family...September is only two months away.
Thank you for joining me @ My Cozy Corner.
I will be hopping over to party with a few gardening enthusiasts and others.

~Fern Grotto~

Hello Everyone,
The weather is finally cooperating and we are having very nice mild temperatures.
I love 80 degrees. Not to hot and not to cold.  Just perfect like Hawaii.
The Fern Grotto is back in Summer Place.  Dressed in style.
I have added some spider plants and new coleus plants. The small spider plants are the babies I rooted from the big spider plant in the center of the rack. The Ivy and Ferns wintered over nicely, and
the begonias in the bathroom didn't work out so well and  now they are living in the Fern Grotto.
See post about Begonias in the Bathroom go HERE.

The Vintage Bird cage I won has been moved outside. And just behind the Asparagus fern is a birds' nest.
Today I got on a ladder and saw three baby birds sleeping in their nest
and... MOTHER WAS WATCHING ME!

A new Boston Fern was added next to the pots and another spider plant is in the pot  below. The water drips down the Boston Fern  into the spider plant.  The tree fern isn't doing so well.
I plan to fix that soon. (Buy a new one)

I took a few photos today of my new angel.  She was a Birthday gift from my son and family.
I decided to move some of the pots around and take my vintage bird cage into  the house.
I love this wooden bird cage I found at the thrift store. The birdies are still there. They are growing up.
My Geranium did well over the winter too.
I bought the little table for a dollar at a yard sale and painted it black. If it gets ruined from the weather or water it's no great loss. But, now that I look at it ... I think I will put a tray under it I can see the water will run down the pot and on to the table.

Sweetheart has put a drip system in the Fern Grotto, and every afternoon at four o'clock each pot is watered for about five minutes.

I love to look at the photos.  I can see so much more I can do to make the space look more interesting.
Maybe I'll move the geranium on the bricks next to the little boot.
(Save the Table from Water Damage)

When the birds leave the nest I will move the wooden bird cage back a little more.
I just didn't want to make MOTHER BIRD to angry.

When I was young I wanted jewelry and now I want
Angels and Tea Cups.
Amazing!

*Happy Birthday to Me*

Hi, Everyone.
OK, It's all about me.
This little tea light is just the right size for a birthday cake.
With a cute little flicker of light  inside.

Sweetheart and I stayed with my mother while my sister visited Hawaii the week we arrived home.
As a birthday gift my mother gave me one of her tea cups.
I love it!

Today was so beautiful I took my tray and sat in the patio and admired my beautiful gift.
AS THEY SAY!
A GIRL CAN NEVER HAVE TO MANY TEA CUPS.

The heat turned up in Northern California and our rose blooming season has come to an end.
This rose is "Tournament of Roses" Light Pink to Medium Pink.

'Lefton China' Pattern 2684
Footed tea cup and hand painted

Purple Lavender and Veronica give the bouquet a romantic look in the vintage vase.

Please come and sit awhile and enjoy the swing.
