This is Garage Sale weekend at My Cozy Corner. Trips to England and Scotland are expensive and I decided to help out with the extra expenses by having a garage sale every three months during 2011. I had a sale in February 2011 and now a sale in May and I will have another one in September and November 2011.

After working to get the garage arranged with all the goodies to sell and minding the STORE for 2 days. I was so grateful to have a wonderful and easy dinner/lunch planned for this busy weekend.

Spinach and Bacon Quiche

I love this part. Refrigerated pie crust.

Fresh baby spinach

Crumbled cooked bacon

I love Swiss cheese

Eggs and Cream in the blender

Ready to bake. Prep Time: 15 mins.

Servings: 8 servings

Reheats beautifully in the microwave oven

A Tossed green salad for Two

Fresh Strawberries for Dessert

A Great One Dish Meal

Ingredients

1 9 inch refrigerated pie crust, fitted to a 9 inch glass pie plate

1 1/2 cups shredded Swiss cheese

1 lb cooked bacon crumbled

2 cups chopped fresh baby spinach, packed

Salt and pepper to taste

6 large eggs beaten

1 1/2 cups heavy cream

Directions

Preheat the oven to 375. Combine the eggs, cream, salt, and pepper in a food processor or blender. Layer the spinach, bacon, and cheese in the bottom of the pie crust, then pour the egg mixture on top. Bake for 35 to 45 minutes until the egg mixture is set. Cut into 8 wedges.

A Tribute to Three Ladies Go Traveling

Hello Everyone,

Today, I'm paying tribute to two of the most wonderful ladies that I will be traveling with to England and Scotland in June 2011.

Plans for this trip have been in the making since last September when our church started building a long awaited new church. As a fundraiser the members designed a church tour to England and Scotland. I have the privilege to be traveling with women who are experienced travelers and have been to England before. At the top of the post are pages with more information on the planning for this wonderful experience. The main purpose of this trip is to visit the island of Iona in Scotland where Christianity began in 563 A.D.

I have been doing alot of reading about Scotland. And what the Scottish people like to eat. I discovered that the Scottish Shortbread cookie in one of their the all time favorites.

Dogs are an important part of the Scottish way of life. This little dog is my version of a Scottish Terrier.

A handmade Tartan Lavender Sachet is a small token of my gratitude for opportunity to travel with such caring women.

Tartan ~ is a rich material ~ Woolen cloth with a woven pattern of straight lines of different colors and widths crossing at right angles, especially as worn in the Scottish Highlands, where each clan has its own pattern.

'Haviland'

Regal and Elegant are the china tea cups and saucers trimmed in gold with a golden teaspoon for stirring.

'Plymouth'

'Arita'

The color of yellow and tartan are reminiscent of the Scottish culture.

'Graham Thomas' is one of my favorite English roses. The beautiful golden yellow blooms are so soft like the sky of an Scottish coastline. And the dark lush green leaves could be the same shade as a Scottish countryside.

Small handmade napkins are just the right size to dab the crumbs from our lips.

When Friends

Gather for Tea

Visit often, but not too much.

Listen more; talk less.

Be willing to help in an instant.

Shun petty arguments.

Avoid sarcastic humor.

Guard against flattery.

Pray often for one another.

A Day in the Rose Garden Tour

Hello Everyone,

Thank you for the beautiful comments on Mother's Day! I went to breakfast with my daughter and two granddaughters. While we waited we enjoyed a scone and a delicious cup of coffee. We shared Eggs Benedict which is my all time favorite and we visited about the school year coming to an end soon and planned some of our summer activities. I'm looking forward to having the girls spend some quality time with me this summer.

Wow!!! OMG... It's Monday and I have so many things to share with you. This past Saturday I went on a garden tour. A dear friend of mine is a Master Gardener and has a home and garden on 2 acres. She is a member of the American Rose Society in our community and this year she was asked by the club if she would have "A Day in the Rose Garden Tour " at her home. And as they say in blogland~

"SHOW OF YOUR COTTAGE"

The idea was to build a potting shed, but the 'Rose Cottage' is now a flower arranging shed and garden storage shed. Sure it's a shed.

But

WHAT A SHED!!

As I toured the garden I noticed a mixture of annuals and perennials.

The weather was a perfect 77 degrees and slightly overcast. The visitors and flowers were all very happy.

The local Rose Society at one time required all rose garden tours to place the name of the rose on a black marker. But as times change so do rules. I photographed the markers if I could. And this fabulous rose is 'Livin Easy'

Now isn't this the cutest fairy garden. I just love the fairies and the red mushrooms are so whimsical.

I want this table and chairs.

The 'Rose Cottage has a beautiful tile floor and plenty of storage space under the arranging counter and behind the door.

This garden is considered a shade garden. With the valley heat during the summer this garden is a beautiful and cool space to entertain family and friends.

The grounds were planted around 1977 and 9 weddings have been held in the garden over the past 35 years.

Awesome!

Another wonderful space for entertaining.

My goodness~ I certainly enjoyed your company on "A Day in the Rose Garden Tour" now I want to buy all those roses for my yard. LOL!!

Mother's Day Retreat

Hello Everyone,

I just returned from visiting my mother. And, now it's time for me to have a Mother's Day Retreat. I am so grateful to have breakfast in bed, a good book to read and relax in a Dreamy room.

The angels are watching over me. I found this print while antiquing. I have done some research and cannot find the artist that painted it. If anyone can identify the painting or know something about the artist I would love to hear from you.
