~Angel Bathroom and Begonias~

Hi Everyone, 

It's a rainy day in Northern California and, I've been inside the house doing a little redo in the guest bathroom.  To See Guest Bathroom  remodel post in April 2010 go to   'Angel Bathroom'. 

2012

This is my story and I'm sticking to it.  I was raised in Santa Clara Valley. Wonderful climate to grow Tuberous begonias.  Begonias grow even better in the Santa Cruz area on the Pacific coastline. Well, I have tried to grow begonias every summer in our patio for years and, it's either to hot or something...

I was watching Martha Stewart one day and a gardener was showing begonias.  Beautiful begonias, just the kind I would love to grow.  Martha asked her where did she grow her begonias?  She said "In my bathroom" at last the answer to my prayers.  

And now I have begonias growing in my bathroom. 

Alleluia!

I'm hopeful this idea will work. 

2010

Since I grow lavender and love angels I used my favorite things in the 2010 remodel bathroom

2012

Out with the Lavender and in with the Yellow Begonias.  I bought a large yellow begonia at Lowe's last weekend and, when I got home and looked at the plant closer I found there were three separate plants in the container. Yip-Skip...  I replanted them and put two in the bathroom and one on the living room coffee table.
I also painted two Terra Cotta angel pots so the yellow plants would really pop in the off-white pots.
I'm also looking for an off-white curtain for the window to accent the new vintage looking lace towels I fell in love with at TM.  When I find the curtain I will share with you another look and, we'll see how the begonias are fairing in the guest bathroom.

2010

I still have the same wall decor, but peach is history.

Begonias love moist soil , and humid air.

I love to accessorize my etagere 

Angel

I made some bath salts and I found a darling demitasse cup at the GW for .49 cents.

 

My dream is to have the begonia cascading down over the shelf and bloom and bloom and bloom.

My sweet angel night light has a soft gentle glow to help guide my guests during the early morning hours.

Well off I go to do some more crafty things while it's still raining outside.  

I love to make mosaics and this one is great with the bright yellow and the soft off-white details.

Lilac Tea

Hello Everyone, 

I hope you enjoyed your Easter Holiday.  I had a wonderful experience on Easter morning.  After many years  of planning to build a new church.  We held our first service in our new building on Easter Sunday 2012.

What a wonderful feeling to have dreamed a dream and see the dream come true.

In honor of the first service we had full capacity and a guest trumpeter to play

 "The Trumpet Shall Sound" G.F. Handel  

It was a truly an amazing morning.

Later in the afternoon Sweetheart and I watched the 'Masters' golf and had our daughter and granddaughters over for a wonderful dinner.

The chef cooked a ham and baked beans

I made a potato salad 

It was just a perfect day.

I have so much to be grateful for, and I try to remember it everyday.

Today for my 'Lilac Tea" I would like to share a bouquet from my one and only Lilac bush. I just planted it last year and I cut every bloom off for this bouquet.   In the  next few months I plan to do some major plantings around the garden. I want more Lilacs...

The weather is very unpredictable this week.  It will rain and sunshine within one hour. 

The birds are singing. 

The Lilac is blooming.

and

I am ready to have a cup of tea.

I was so excited after I saw the little 'Jug Cover' at Lisa's Tea Room I came home and found a doily and sewed some beads on the tips.  I just think it's the cutest accoutrement .

My vintage bird cage adds so much romance to my Lilac Tea. 

The birds and I are singing all about Spring.  

The beautiful cup, saucer and plate were a gift from a dear friend last year. 'Haviland and Co. Limoges'

I have not grown a Lilac bush before, and I was so surprised when I put the flowers up to my nose and the beautiful fragrance hit me.  Wow... The scent is so sweet and delicious.

On the top of my 'Jug Cover' I sewed a rose I found in the ribbon drawer

My Great-Grandmother's silver tea leaf spoon.  Perfect for a cup of tea.

It is so magical to have flowers in the garden.  The joy of picking them, and arranging the bouquet.  I have never had a flower bouquet look the same.  

Nature is so spectacular.

*Easter Dessert* Carrot Cake Petit Fours

Hello Everyone, 

This is a busy week getting ready for company and the granddaughters are out of school.  I wanted to bake something special for this Easter.  As you know by following me awhile I love to try something new.  Blogging gives the freedom to play and experiment with a new idea and test it to see if I would like to make it again.

I love TeaTime magazine and in March/April 2007 I saw these adorable

Easter Dessert

The Easter Buffet is set with all the whimsical Easter goodies and Mr. and Mrs. Bunny came for a visit.

You know they were center stage last year. 

CARROT CAKE PETIT FOURS PRINTABLE RECIPE IS HERE

This was the very first time I have made petit fours.  Helpful hints: I will keep the melted chocolate warmer as I dip the sandwiches in the pot.  I will cut the petit fours into smaller squares.  These are 2" squares. I think the smaller squares are more practical because of the richness of the dessert. These sandwiches are filled with Cream Cheese Filling and frozen for 1 hour before dipped into melted white chocolate. The heads are made of Marzipan with sliced almonds for ears, and melted chocolate for the whiskers.  I had a little trouble with the whiskers, but this was my first time...

I really had a great time making the dessert and the girls are so excited about having petit fours and ice cream for Easter Dessert on Sunday.

Life is all about family and enjoying life one moment at a time.

*Easter Parade*

Hello Everyone,

Brunch is served.  An unhurried and elegant spring brunch is one of the true pleasures of this time of year at 

My Cozy Corner. 

Although the occasion calls for fine china, the mood is light and informal. Playful icons of the season-bunnies, eggs and candy are among the place settings.  

A grass centerpiece captures the thrill of the egg hunt in miniature. 

The spring table is a cheerful mix of contrasts and embellishments. 

My new bunnies from TM have hopped from the living room to the dining room.  First on the Mantel for the Mantelscape party, then to the Coffee table and now to our Easter Table 

 My motto is

 "The value of a Dollar" 

and thrift is my game.

Lots of eggs to hunt. If it rains we can hunt for Easter eggs in the house. LOL!!!

This tablescape is a very Thrifty Tablescape.

I bought the pink flowered salad plates at our church yard sale last year.    

'Pink Perfection' camellia tree is still blooming, but the rain has discolored so many blooms I found just enough flowers to make the two bouquets for the table.

The clear plates are from a yard sale a few years ago. (.10 cents each x 12) what a deal.

White paper dollies from Michael's craft store and another DT clear plate underneath.

Cute clear tea cup and saucer called 'Fairmont' exclusively designed for Bella and produced by SOGA Japan.

I bought a box of six at TM for $2.49 and I have some fun ideas for these cups this summer under my new pergola.

This morning my sweetheart and went outside and to the end of our property and dug up the grass in the Easter basket. I didn't want to ruin my garden box, so I lined it with clear plastic wrap and one square shovel of grass fit into the box perfectly.

Candy is always welcome at Easter.  

Candy Eggs for the girls (granddaughters) this Sunday.

'Pink Debutante' camellia is very slow to bloom and the rain has discolored most of the blooms. But I found a few to add to the bouquets.

The handmade napkin ring is just a piece of extra ribbon I had and I bought the bunnies at Michael's craft store.  I love bunnies...

A brand new Goodwill Store opened last week and I found these vintage glasses for .49 cents each.

I found the cupcake stand at the grocery store and it looks like the bunny vase...Just amazing.

I found the cute spring  cutters at a garage sale and colored marzipan is perfect for the cutouts.
