Living Room Vignette B and A

Hello everyone,
It's been hot here for days. I have cabin fever, and when I
rest in the afternoon, I dream about my fall garden.
I can't wait until the weather cools down and I
can go outside and start digging up plants and moving
them to a more conducive place in the garden.
Being in the house all day, I took some pictures of
my new fall vignette on the sofa table.
All summer I had the white candles, mercury candle holders
and mercury vase with pear blooms.  Now I have
three vases with hydrangeas drying.
I follow the decorating rule of "have things you love in your house."
I do love my wildlife artwork.
When the hydrangeas dry completely,  I will use them in
a basket in my guest room. There are a few more
still on the plants outside.  This table is a great
spot to decorate and dry my blooms at the same time.
I have a wooden wheelbarrow under the table, filled with
last year's dried hydrangeas.

I have tried different methods of drying the beautiful blooms.
This method has worked best for me.
Fill a vase with a small amount of water.
Remove all leaves.
Put the flowers in the vase and leave them
in the water, until the blooms, are completely dry
and the water has evaporated.
In a couple of weeks. I will be transforming our country
home into my most favorite time of the year.
FALL is coming soon.

A Visit to Williams and Sonoma

Hello everyone,
I thought I would do a tablescape today.  But I didn't do it myself.
While visiting my sister in Los Gatos, Ca. a couple of weeks ago,
we stopped by the Williams and Sonoma store. My little town doesn't
have a Williams and Sonoma, so it was a real treat
 to visit this beautiful store.
I was excited when I downloaded the photos off my iPhone.
My iPhone is the S6 plus apple product and the camera
in the phone takes the most beautiful pictures.
This is my first iPhone and I love it.
The "Lancaster" is on sale now. Go here.
This tablescape is fantastic. The goblets, linens, and
hammered copper mugs
are beautiful with this dinnerware.
I fell head over heels in love with this tablescape and
I love the chairs too.
This pattern is "Spanish Floral" dinnerware.
The hammered chargers make a beautiful statement
with the stack of dishes on the matching runner.
The "Lancaster" dinnerware resembles
Pennsylvania Dutch folk art with a vintage
warmth and relaxed tradition.
I hope you enjoyed your visit to Williams and Sonoma.
Please come back soon.
Joyously,
Betty

Easy Peach Crisp

Hello everyone,
Have you ever been given fresh fruit from a friend's tree?
Our next door neighbors have a peach tree and the other day
they gave me enough peaches to make a fresh peach crisp.
I started by mixing the topping and peeling the peaches.
I grated the cold butter into the oatmeal mix.
I baked the crisp in two bowls.  I used one bowl to
cover ice cream for our evening dessert.  The second
dish I saved for our dessert the next night.
The crisp came out of the oven so bubbly and crispy brown.
This easy peach crisp is the perfect
Summer dessert served over ice cream.
Or just eat it warm out of the dish.

Print recipe
Easy Peach Crisp
Ingredients
  • 4 cups sliced fresh peaches
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup cold butter
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup rolled oats
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Arrange peaches evenly in an 8x8-inch baking dish. Mix flour, brown sugar, butter, cinnamon, and salt in a bowl using a pastry cutter until evenly crumbled. Fold oats into flour mixture; sprinkle and press topping into peaches. Bake in the preheated oven until topping is lightly browned, about 30 minutes

It's time to serve our dessert.
I hope to see you soon.

It's the Little Things that Matter #10

Hello everyone,
How was your weekend? Tom and I made a quick trip to the Bay Area
to see my Sister and her husband. She and I had a 'Sister Day.'
We went shopping find an outfit for me to wear to our son's wedding next month.
While shopping, I found this mix on sale at Sur la table in Los Gatos.
I will be baking Raspberry Macarons soon.

Today I have so much to be grateful for:
While I was in church on Sunday morning we sang
one of my favorite hymns.
COME, THOU ALMIGHTY KING,
I love the words, and the message this hymn
carries to the world.
I love to sing hymns and reflect on the amazing life
I have today.
 ****************************************************************

Also while shopping in Los Gatos, I bought this mix too.
Petite Madeleines are a great tea time dessert or served with ice cream
in the evening while Tom and I are watching the Olympics.

Chintz Tea Time

Hello everyone,
Once a month I visit Trends Marketplace. I only visit once
a month to help control my spending budget.
Last month I found a chintz teapot. I've wanted a
chintz teapot for years.

I collect tea towels, and I found this one
at my favorite store TM.
Chelsea Chintz Summer Pink by Windsor (England)
The garden is blooming with mixed Zinnias.
I am pinning this tea cup and saucer to my tea cup collection on Pinterest.
A vintage spoon from my great-grandma and an English
dessert plate finishes my Chintz Tea Time today.
