Valentine's Day Dessert


Happy Valentine's Day to family and friends. 
I've prepared my Valentine Dinner Dessert table and looking forward to Sweetheart and I celebrating our 54th year of our engagement.  54 years ago we were in San Francisco for the evening.  Eating the most fabulous food and going  to movies in the most beautiful theater. 
My candelabra sets the mood for cookies, chocolates and a glass of cider. 
During the Christmas season I found this Wilton Linzer Cookie Cutter at the grocery store. I knew I wanted to make these heart shaped cookies for Valentine's Day. I used the recipe I used for the almond crescents cookies. HERE 
Printable Recipe for cookie dough HERE.  At Christmas my sister gave me some red raspberry jam imported from France to use as filling in the center.  I also knew I had the perfect occasion for this fancy cookie.   
I get so much enjoyment when planning for a special occasion. Another example of planning for awhile are the purchase of these heart napkins. I found the heart napkins at WalMart  last year after Valentine's Day. The're a bandana and only a $1.00 each. I was so excited to get them out and put them on the table.  The napkin rings are from World Market a couple of years ago.  I think the napkin rings have special character.

The white scalloped dishes were my mother's favorite. Beautiful gold trimmed salad plates were a gift from sweetheart's sister for our 50th Wedding Anniversary
I found a set of four heart dessert plates at Tuesday Morning last year. And my fun gold flatware I found at the antique store where I had my Cozy Corner for a year.
What fun memories. Collecting, collecting and dreaming...of putting the plates on a table for a special occasion.♥
Our glasses are from my mother's estate. I love using her pretty things when I set my table. 
A different heart dessert plate. Their very playful design makes me smile.

I'm using my tea cart with the sides up to have this little dessert table set for after we eat our lobster dinner. Every Valentine's Day for around 20 years we have prepared lobster for our special dinner. I bought tulips for this table, because I think I might be getting a bouquet of red roses on Friday and I didn't want to spoil the surprise. Sweetheart never reads my blog. Thank goodness. I love the beautiful red tulips in my vintage white pitcher. I hung some lace curtains in the windows for a softer background. Usually I see the back yard. I like this look better. 
I love to photograph everything. But, sometimes my heart sings when I photograph flowers.

Well off to the real world. I've got to get the Valentine cards in the mail for my six granddaughters. I did find a really cute one for Sweetheart.

Angel Tea Time


Hello, my dear friends 
Welcome to My Cozy Corner. February is my favorite month and 
 on February 14th. 1960 my sweetheart and I were engaged. 
We have a LOVE STORY and you can read it  HERE
I'm such a romantic and angels remind me of TRUE LOVE. 
Please join me for a cup of tea and a delicious cookie on a rainy February day.
A dear friend gave me this beautiful set of Fostoria 'American' salad and dessert dishes. I knew the instant she handed me the dishes what kind of tablescape  I was going design. My lace tablecloth and pink transferware was part of my vision. 
A little cherub vase and my 'Perfection' Camellias make the most romantic statement.
The delicious Almond Crescent cookies are on an American salad plate.
While at the thrift store I found two cherub napkin rings to complete my tea table.
My Ironstone tea pot is also a delightful addition to tea time.
Adding my grandmother's silver tea spoons. The little spoons traveled to America 100 years ago (1914) on a ship from England.
I ran outside to pick the camellias in the rain. Hopefully you will see a rain drop or two on the flower petals.

The Ronald Reagan Library


Hi everyone, 
Oh, the PLACES I've been. While Sweetheart and I were on our Fall vacation to visit our Son and Granddaughters in Pasadena, we visited the Reagan Library. 
 President Reagan's dream was that one day Air Force One would be shared with the American people. That dream has finally come true. 
We walked through the Air Force One that served seven U.S. presidents and flew over one million miles during its 28 years of service. View each cabin, detailed as it was during President Reagan's administration, and get a behind-the-scenes look into America's Flying White House.
While criss-crossing the United States and flying to twenty-six nations in Europe, Asia, and the Americas during eight years in the White House, Ronald Reagan logged an impressive number of air miles as he met with world leaders and dignitaries using what he called face-to-face diplomacy. 
We had visited the Reagan Library a few years ago while they were building the Pavilion
I took this photo of my granddaughters with the President and Mrs. Reagan. 
Now they can say "We stood next to President and Mrs. Reagan." LOL!
Perched on a mountaintop with sweeping views of the surrounding mountains, valleys and the Pacific Ocean, the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library is one of California's most beautiful and unique destinations.

The Library's 300 acre site, just 45 minutes from downtown Los Angeles, represents the "shining city on a hill" often referenced by President Reagan and appropriately serves as the final resting place of the nation's 40th President. 
What a wonderful visit and beautiful view.

Winter Mantel



Hi everyone, 
January disappeared!  I'm looking forward to sunny days. My daffodils are about an inch out of the ground and all the roses have little buds sprouting on the branches.
I've finally finished decorating my Winter mantel and I love the Pine Cones and Boxwood. Remember the Petites Fleurs in my Fall Mantel? HERE
I'm so happy to see Brass decor coming back in style. When we did our last remodel to our home in 1990 I purchased brass candlestick holders and brass lamps. (Very expensive) and I love the look of brass in our living room. I broke one of the original glass hurricane candlestick shades, so I replaced both this last year. The cloches are an integral part of my mantel design and I love old books too.  Go Here for last year's Winter mantel
I bought the Partridge and the Pear Tree at Pottery Barn in Pasadena while on vacation this past Fall. We don't have a Pottery Barn close, I would have to go to Sacramento to a Pottery Barn there. When I saw the salt and pepper shakers, I knew it was love at first sight. As the designers say~Buy what you love! I do♥
I love my apothecary jars and I found the glittered pine cones at Safeway on sale after Christmas. I knew I would get some mileage out of the darling glittery pine cones this winter and during next Fall and Christmas season. 
Always so much inspiration on blogs and pinterest on how to decorate a mantel. In 2014 my goal is to be more thrifty and shop my home. I'm running out of storage room and as I age I have less energy to move things around frequently. I would love to have this look for a few months at least.
My project the next few weeks is to finish cleaning my craft room and work in my garden and getting it ready for our tour in May. As bloggers know time flies when having fun and my life just is going by way to fast.

French Dessert and Cafe


Hello everyone, 
The weather has changed in the past few days. We're finally having rain showers.
With the weather cooler I lite the fireplace and set a dessert table in the living room. I bought the little pots at TM last year, while they were on clearance.
I'm in my frenchy mood again and wanted to use the pots to make a french dessert and use my demitasse cups for a French tablescape.
I'm truly blessed with a wonderful garden area and this week a few of my daffodils and pansies are blooming I love my tulip vase for a special look. 
The silver sugar and creamer are the perfect size for my dessert table.

Visiting the Shuttle 'Endeavour'


Hi, 
If you are new to My Cozy Corner, welcome. Early in November 2013, Sweetheart and I visited our Son and granddaughters in Pasadena. We visited the Rose Bowl Flea Market HERE and Christmas at Disneyland HERE, One of our vacation days we visited the California Science Center to have a look at the Shuttle 'Endeavour'
Do you remember the commercial of the Toyota Tundra pickup towing the retired space shuttle Endeavour?  
This is a photo of the Tundra...
Set at the entrance of the museum is this iconic element the Giant Lever. It educates guests on the principles of leverage. A force as little as 50 pounds lifts a Toyota Tundra truck. 
My granddaughters are trying to lift the Toyota Tundra...☺
A little history lesson:
Endeavour was the fifth and final spaceworthy NASA space shuttle to be built, and first flew in May 1992 on mission STS-49 with its last mission being STS-134 in May 2011.[2][3] The STS-134 mission was originally planned as the final mission of the Space Shuttle program,[4] but with authorization of the STS-135 mission, Atlantis became the last Space Shuttle to fly.
