Ho! Ho! Ho!

Welcome to my Kitchen and Dining Room Christmas Tour.

The trophy deer antlers are from a hunting trip sweetheart was on in Colorado a few years ago.  

Our fireplace is in the center of our home. It is so wonderful to have the heat in two rooms. Our neighbor gave us some lemons and we need to squeeze them for Christmas treats.  We also love little cuties. 

I love my 'Twelve Days of Christmas Cookie Jar.

I found the Partridge in a Pear Tree at Pottery Barn this year. They are salt and pepper shakers.  

The dining room is decorated in red this year. Red ribbons and Poinsettias. I have a few different wreaths, so this year I took a green wreath and attached my ice skates andpainted the ice skate blades with slate gray paint and gray glitter paint. 

A dream of mine is to learn to ice skate. (of course at my age I've got to watch the bones) you know!

My new favorite thing this holiday season is my Fitz and Floyd cookie jar. I found the cookie jar at Tuesday Morning on Clearance. My heart skipped a beat. While at the thrift store I found a Fitz and Floyd Santa and Tree salt and pepper shakers

My pink transferware dishes have a  special place io top of my crystal cabinet. I have a few bleached Christmas trees and a little snowy church perched on top of the dishes. 

This year I didn't tear  the house up decorating. I decorated around my favorite things. I love to look at my white ironstone collection, but I love to show off my nutcracker collection too.
A happy marriage was made...

The same philosophy works with my Blue and White dish collection. I love the bleached Christmas Trees and a candle or two.

Shall we move into the ♥ heart of our home? I love my kitchen. In June we did an update, but I've only shared some of the details with you.  After the holidays I will get busy and make new valances for the window and show you all the improvements we did on our 1990's kitchen and dining room. For now I want to share with your my Hot drink spot. An instant hot water tea pot is always ready to heat water for hot chocolate or tea. I made the chocolate marshmallow sticks last week and peppermint candy canes are waiting to be stirred into a tasty drink. I just thought~I'm going to the store and buy some spiced cider mix that would be nice too.  Now for the confession part of this post. I love Christmas because I LOVE PANETTONE BREAD.  There, I said it...I enjoy my bread in the morning, afternoon and in the evening during the month of December. Yummy~

 We purchased a new Jen Air range in 1990 when we remodeled our entire home. This past June we purchased a new Jen Air range. This range is digital with a extra 2 inches of oven space. 

A couple of weeks ago I made the dish towel with an iron-on transfer.  JOY TO THE WORLD.  Love my new range.

Let's see, what's next in the kitchen. Oh, yes my little cow creamer. I love coffee with french vanilla creamer. I drink about three cups in the morning, while (lurking) I mean looking at the beautiful inspirational blogs. I only put my cute cow on the counter when company comes to visit. 
She's very fragile. 

Last, but not least are the work horses of the kitchen. 

I have my Twelve Days of Christmas apron and a Let It Snow apron. I have a couple of extra aprons for the grand girls to use when we have our baking day. My 13 year granddaughter loves to bake and my 12 year old granddaughter loves to eat.LOL

My Cozy Corner's Christmas Tree

Hi all, 

We've got a few days left until Christmas Day. The tree is decorated and Sweetheart and I are as ready as we will ever be for Christmas 2013.
This Christmas celebrates our 54th Christmas together. 
Also on Christmas Day I will have been blogging for 4 years. Wow!
 Blogging has changed so such a short time. 

Now to current activities. 
 The Angel Tree has a little different look from last year.

Wrapped in ribbon 

Baby's Breath is tucked in the branches.

This year we bought a new tree. 

This tree is 6 feet and narrow in width...

I also added more lights. 

The mantel is dressed in Silver and Gold

When Sweetheart and I became Empty-Nester's 24 years ago, I gave the old family ornaments to our children. I started a new collection of  angel ornaments and bought our first artificial tree. Over the years I have collected so many I didn't put  them on all the tree. 

The little white feather tree is in the living room this year.  Last year the feather tree was in the kitchen. I have some new things in the kitchen to share.

I'll have a Christmas Kitchen tour tomorrow.

Christmas Eve Drink

Merry Christmas to you all.

  Wow! Has this week flown by?  I've been busy decorating my kitchen and making a fun treat for my granddaughters and family.

I first saw this Christmas Eve Drink on Face book. Thanks to one of my friends.  She suggested I try it... Oh my gosh, it was so delicious stirred in a cup of hot chocolate.  I just couldn't wait to share it with you.

We enjoyed this treat on Tuesday evening. The girls and I made the Marshmallows dipped in chocolate after dinner. We enjoyed homemade cookies and hot chocolate with all the extras. Peppermint sticks and mini-marshmallows.  I also made the festive dish towel with an iron-on transfer from Graphic Fairy.  

I was planning to donate this little snowman to our church Bazaar, but I'm happy I kept it now.  It's a great place to hold extra treats.

Yum!

I bought the delicious cookies unbaked as a fundraiser for the girls school.  They were small cookies, prepackaged and ready to bake.  Just unwrap the frozen cookies, bake and serve.

Try some for Christmas Eve or anytime. I think I will try peppermint sprinkles too.

Fireplace Mantel

Hello everyone, 

Just think, we will be celebrating Christmas Eve next Tuesday. Where did this year go? Yesterday, I finished putting the final  touches on the Christmas tree. And then took some photos for the fireplace mantel.

This year's theme is Silver and Gold. I visited the DT for the ornaments and Ta-Da a glittery mantel. 

I'm still using the same basic elements for my Holiday mantel.

Gold framed mirror with the silver and gold bow and ornaments.

As you all know I  love my cloches.
 I added three cloches and my favorite gold mercury trees.  They are so elegant. I have lighted garland along the back of the mantel and  I tucked my cloches around the garland.

The gold and silver cloches sparkle night and day.

The reindeer are prancing thru the greenery enjoying a glorious time on the fireplace mantel.

My little frenchy treasure from my visit to the lavender field has had a spot on the mantel since September.  I've also kept the brass candle stick holders in the same place too. I've only changed the color of the flowers and the color of the candles. To see the morph. GO Here

I was so inspired by the simple way the different textures of the silver and gold ornaments added to the sparkle of the season.

~My Happy House Covered with Snow~

Hi everyone, 
Hey! This is California...and it doesn't snow very often

Last Friday we had a snow storm.

 The elevation of our house is around 728 feet and snow is usually only a light dusting, but we had four inches...  

The lights and decorations are fine and it was so beautiful.

This is our back yard early in the morning.

I haven't cleaned the garden, but I'll be out there this week. Today the snow is history. All the leaves have fallen and on Tuesday  I have a 100 bulbs to plant next to the park bench for blooms next spring...

My sweet angel has a mound of snow as her crown. And she is knee deep in a snow drift.

This is a view looking up our street.  Our daughter lives across the street from where the car is parked on the right hand side.  We are so blessed to have her and our grand girls so close.

This is our next door neighbor's yard. His Holiday display is covered with snow. I don't think anything was damaged, but it could have been serious if it had snowed much more.

I know that snow is no big deal for the folks that live with it on a daily basis each winter, but it is a novelty to our little neck of the woods.  The girls and I went to the movies on the night it snowed, and we were the only three people watching the movie. We saw 'A Christmas Candle' filmed in England. The girls were so excited to have Grandpa drives us to the movies in the snow. They stayed the night and were up bright and early the next morning making a snow-women before the snow melted. 

I do live a wonderful and joyous life.

Dining Room~Nutcracker Tree~

Hello everyone,

My Holiday decorating is coming along nicely. I've finished the kitchen and I wanted to share my little Nutcracker Tree with you all.  I love seeing the twinkling lights at night on a holiday tree.  

Last year this tree was in the living room decorated with angels. Here

This year the little tree is in the kitchen playing host to my mini nutcrackers.

I've added a few DT glittery ornaments.

And some artificial poinsettia blooms here and there.

This little guy has a string to put his little legs up and down.

I have three larger nutcrackers guarding the tree on the bottom. 

 

I made this green felt tree skirt with beautiful green fringe some 20 years ago. I cut the felt in a large circle and sewed the wonderful fringe many on the bottom.  I found the idea in a Martha Stewart magazine years ago. Today I found the same instructions on Martha Stewart's wed site.  Here
