Hello Everyone!
The secret is out. Yes, I've been having the January blahs too....
But, I think I have solved the problem. I pretend I go off to a B and B for the afternoon.
I have a guest room decorated just like a Bed and Breakfast would look to me.
I call it my Granddaughter's room. But, it's my special place to read, relax, watch television or nap.
Yesterday, I was playing with some leftover sachets that the GG's and I made for the convention in August. I stuffed one sachet extra full of stuffing and added some dried lavender. Then I put a hanger and a satin bow on the top of the sachet.
Next
I decided to fill a clear glass ornament from the craft store with lavender scented bath salts I made. Now it really started to feel like a retreat in the making.

And, here are the results of my handiwork.
I think I 'll put the heart sachet under my pillow during my (nap) retreat.
And a nice soak in the tub would be a great way to start my afternoon retreat. And, I'm thinking of putting on some comfy clothes too.
Maybe a snack on this pretty little dessert plate. Let's imagine some red grapes, the same color as the bow and a delicious chocolate chip cookie. Maybe warm. I'm thinking maybe 2 cookies.
Yum!!!
I use a small tea cart as the end table in the guest room. It has a glass tray for the top and a shelf underneath to hold all of my monthly periodicals. I love Victoria Bliss, Romantic Home and Southern Living. Inspiration~Inspiration~galore..
Oh! I need a spot of tea. Nice and hot with red grapes and 2 chocolate chip cookies. Good.... This is so much fun just dreaming about the lovely afternoon.
Now
I think I'll turn the telephone answering machine down very low. Put a "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door. Oops!!!

I'm starting to feel a little bit guilty.
Ah, I think the feeling just vanished....
What do you think? Do I have a solution to the blahs? On these cold January days with the cloudy sky, rain or SNOW a 'Retreat' anytime would be a welcome event. And a wonderful way to rejuvenate the body and the soul.

I like the colours of your heart sachet. A great idea to create a retreat in your own home and it's cozy too.

ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Hello Betty,
ReplyDeleteYes, of course it is a need to treat yourself on these cold January days with the cloudy sky, rain or snow. When we treat ourself nicely, we are also able to treat others. And thats what we all need. The little heart sachet is lovely and the bath salt into the Christmas bauble is a cute idea. And the plate is just beautiful. Have a good time.
Greetings, Johanna
Everything is so lovely! Such a sweet tea cup! I have enjoyed my visit with you this morning.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like the perfect way to beat the January blahs. I'm enjoying visiting those that join in Tea Tim Tuesday as this was my first tea party.
ReplyDeleteWhat a terrific idea! Love the bath salts and the heart is gorgeous! I do that too - we all need a retreat and time to recharge!
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining A Return to Loveliness!
