Hello Everyone!!!
Today, I wanted to share with you some sentimental treasures my mother gave me about 20 years ago. I decided to preserve them in a shadow box. It has worked well. No dust and very little direct light; Hence the word shadow box.
Hope you enjoy
My Daddy was born on January 24, 1917
French knot flowers are embroidered on the soft linen bonnet
My Daddy's first comb
My Daddy's first brush
My Grandmother holding my daddy with his cute little smile.
Another bonnet made from a lighter fabric.
This lock of hair was found in the birth announcement. When my daddy was young his hair was very dark brown and when my Grandmother was young. I was told that she had beautiful long auburn hair.
So I'm going to say this is my Grandmother's hair.
I'm so delighted to have these beautiful vintage pieces from the past.
On January 24, 2011 the treasures are going to be 94 years old.

Happy Pink Saturday Betty Sweetie...
ReplyDeleteOh what precious treasures of time from the past. I love the photo of your Grandmother holding your Daddy. How precious is that? Just look at the love in her smile.
Isn't it sweet that the first comb and brush had pink on them? Makes you wonder if in her heart she thought she was having a girl. You know how we always have thoughts about what we are carrying.
Love the bonnets too. Oh my gosh, the dainty flowers embroidered on them. I have never seen an open one like the one you shared. How unique that is.
The perfect place for each of the treasures a shadow box. I love the idea and it makes for the perfect finish. You can see it each time you walk by and smile and think of the love that was shared in your family.
Oh and the lock of hair? Priceless. I am so thrilled it was amongst the belongings. It is truly beautiful sweet one.
Thank you for sharing with me today. Hope you have a beautiful Pink Saturday. Many hugs and much love, Sherry

Betty, you have such wonderful treasures there, how beautiful they are, so thankful that they were saved and passed on.
ReplyDeleteHappy PS
The shadowbox is beautiful, and you did such a great job of pulling all of those treasures together! I especially like the perfect curl at the end of that lock of hair. What a great way to remember your Dad, instead of just packing away all of his sweet little baby things!
ReplyDeleteHappy Pink Saturday!
