Outdoor Wednesday - What's New

I am joining Susan over at A Southern Daydreamer for Outdoor Wednesday

It's April and the rain is still coming down a little everyday.  The weather is cool enough to give my artichoke plant a chance to give me a few meals.  I see five.  Do you see them?
The lone poppy.
This poppy still has a covering on top.
This sweet Carpet Rose is planted in a whiskey barrel and just blooms all spring.
Sweet Peas in a few days.  I love to pair them with the poppies.
Some buds from the Carpet Rose
My angel has survived a long, cold and wet winter, but she is still looking over the garden with a peaceful look.

I know.  No favorites.  But, Joseph's Coat holds a special place in my heart.  The multicolors of red, pink, orange and yellow are so beautiful and the light tea fragrance is just wonderful.

The columbine is a delicate flower.  It has a fairylike, woodland quality with lacy foliage.

California Dutchman's Pipe.  I bought this vine because it is the main food source for the larval of swallowtail butterfly.  The bonus was this unusual bloom.
As I gaze into the garden and wish for a sunny day.  I know for sure a day will come and I will be playing in the soil once more.

Thank you for joining me today.  I have enjoyed sharing my garden with you.

  1. What a lovely garden -- it is still wet and cold soggy ground here in the North West, I love seeing all your pretty dainty little flowers and I think I will go and plant the California Dutchman's Pipe -- I have lots of butterflies in my garden. I also love the columbine flower I know it is old fashion but it is so delicate and comes up faithfully every year. It is much warmer where you are then here in the NW

    Happy Outdoor Wed.

  5. Betty,
I love that you have an artichoke plant. It looks really healthy also.

I too am fond of Joseph's Coat roses. Another thing we have in common. It's the rose I chose for outside of our fence. It's nice because you never know what you're going to get. I also love that you have sweet peas. It's one of my favorite flowers. We sure have been getting enough April Showers to bring May flowers haven't we?

I am so looking forward to seeing you at Rod's birthday party!
